Need off the shelf ammo recommendations (I don't reload) plz for this 16" barrel I have. Mainly looking for proper bullet weights for best accuracy in run of the mill type fmj rounds or other widely available rounds. Goal is accuracy, range not over 600 yds (somewhere between 200-600yds, more than likely 250-300yds). I want to compare to some other rifles just for fun. If anyone knows of any match type ammo that's cool too.

Also may purchase this 12.5" inch barrel in the future for fireball blasting. So goal with that one is max fireball effect. If I like the length beyond a toy for some reason then maybe I could look into most accurate rounds for it also in the future.

You may need to test. My fathers Noreen BN 308 likes Federal Power Shok 150grn JSP.
It likes it so much, that is the ONLY thing it will reliably function with. Plus side is that it is accurate as fudge at 300 yards, and it was the cheapest of the ammo we tested.
Even Noreen couldn't explain why it functions perfectly with Federal, but wouldn't function with match ammo regardless of gas adjustment.

I just ordered 5 boxes for my PA10, usually can't go wrong with Sierra Matchking bullets and $20 per box is a bargain. I can also shoot them in my Savage 10T bolt gun if the gas gun doesn't like them. Should be particularly good for out past 300 yards, I have some handloads with 125 gr Speer TNT's for under 300. :s0035:

Bro, what's your barrel twist?
Sorry I should have read your OP a little better. 1 in 10 twist .308, people will normally say 168 gr is the Go-To which is true, but you are dealing with a short 16 inch barrel.

In a shorter barrel you are looking at 162 grain as ideal but it is not commonly found.

You might experiment with 155 to 165 to find that perfect tight group.

All the Best,
