Can anyone identify what this is and what it does? It's been a mystery to me for years. Most of my reloading equipment has been bought used so I get some strange stuff occasionally but this is the only item that's still unidentified. It's marked 457 (45 rifle?). I'd like to know who built it and what for.

Bullet swaging die? There is such a thing as hammer swaging, that is what I was thinking about this. Andy might know.

It's a Lee bullet sizer, .457 diameter.. I had a Ruger Old Army I cast .457 balls for but those were shot as cast.

There is an actual 457 round that this might be for. This does look like it might be a Lee die. As mentioned it could be for bullet molding but could also be for bullet seating without a press.
