$47 for eight pounds?? If that's not a misprint, it was a deal of the decade or miss-marked at the store.I recently found a 8# jug of H4831sc for $47 a jug
RL-22 and 19 are all I need. Can't find them anywhere.Well, I suppose there may a shooter / hunter here and there who has worked up their absolute favorite load with an Alliant stick powder. They might choke out $86 for a single pound. But my guess is there aren't many. I thought IMR stick powders at $60 something a pound were the limit. It's just my opinion, but I don't think the USD has devalued that much at this point to pay $86.
Those two are out of stock at Midway. You might want to push the "notify me" button in case they come up with some but it will be in the $80 something category if they do get it any time soon.RL-22 and 19 are all I need. Can't find them anywhere.
Well, not exactly a 'stick' powder but I have found my 'favorite' .30-30 loads with Alliant Unique.Well, I suppose there may a shooter / hunter here and there who has worked up their absolute favorite load with an Alliant stick powder.
It's an oldie but a goodie. I seem to recall reading somewhere that because it's an older powder, it's more expensive to make than newer ones and they'd like to discontinue it. I don't know anything about chemistry and I wonder how one powder that is similar at least in appearance to another can cost more to make. But could be.Alliant Unique.
Cost factors : chemistry, the inefficiencies of the older batch equipment, the actual production process being much less efficient. It's an oldie but a goodie. Many years ago, I used RL-12. But it's been gone for a long time and wasn't replaced by anything in their line.I still have a bunch of R-17, R-19 & R-22, as they're for loads that I seldom shoot. IIRC, older Alliant powder series like 17, 19 & 22 have a much higher thermal coefficient.
