On the Magpul DVD's some of the guns they run have a muzzle break type thing out front but it doesn't have any holes or slots. It's just kind of a can looking thing. Does it serve as a muzzle break or is it more for reducing sound in order to keep your shooting buddies from getting a lot of muzzle blast?

it is a copy of the bulgarian krinkov brake, it is really just a cylinder with an expansion chamber and a cone. It is not really a flash hider or muzzle brake but works great at reducing the blast from a short barrel rifle. I use one on my AR pistol which if you shot it close to your face would really clean your sinuses. It be came more pleasant to shoot. The weight alone also helped with muzzle flip.

I have no idea how it would work on a 14.5 or 16 inch barrel.
