I decided to hunt deer this year with a AR I built chambered in 6x6.8 SPC. Which is simply the 6.8 SPC necked down to 6mm. Due to limited time to hunt due to my work schedule. There was no shame in my game this year. The first legal buck was getting it (Eastern WA, 3 point or better) along with the first doe that showed itself. I drew a second antlerless tag.

The first deer I opted to use a 90gr Nosler Accubond @ 2910 fps. Even though the country here is big and open and I was prepared for shots out to 500 yards. The shot on my buck was a 60 yard chip shot. A clean pass through "Bang/Flop".

With my antlerless tag, I opted for a 95gr Hornady SST. Both shot almost same point of impact out to 300 yards as did the Hornady 87gr BTHP. The shot on the doe was at 287 yards with a pass through. It was also a "Bang/Flop". I was impressed with the SST's performance. Broke a rib on entrance, destroyed both lungs and broke a rib on exit.

I apolagize for the poor last light photo.

All in all I have enjoyed the 6x6.8 chambering. Easy to load for, barrels or 5 weeks or so out from Black Hole Weaponry and dies are a phone call away from CH4D for $87.00 shipped. I have shot many powder , bullet, primer combos. My go to powder is IMR8208XBR and CCI BR-4 primers. The Hornady 87gr BTHP shoot wicked accurate

And of course what it's all about.:)

Thank you.

I used The Cerakote heat cured finish on both rifles. The 22" 6x6.8 is finished in "Titanium" and the 16" .264 LBC is finished in "Midnight Broze" which is my mix of burnt bronze and graphite black Cerakote.

I have also coated several of my AR's in what I call "Terminal grey" which is a mix of titanium and graphite black Cerakote.

"Terminal grey"

26" .264 LBC "Midnight bronze".
