This is an unfired M1 barrel, still in cheesecloth and cosmolene. I purchased it fromCMP several years ago and it's been in storage since.
The barrel is made by Springfield Armory in January 1952 (barrel code is S-A-1-52). It's short-chambered to allow it to be reamed to headspace it properly, which should be done by a knowledgeable gunsmith.
