This wonderful video was taken August 14 1945 in HNL Hawaii the Day Japan surrendered and was then misplaced or lost. Following his death his daughter discovered it. The quality is excellent and the music background is really wonderful. Do yourself a favor watch this as it is a vivid piece of our history and as it says at the end the sacrifices made by our parents and other good citizens are the reason we still speak English and enjoy our Freedom.

READ THE PIECE BELOW BEFORE YOU WATCH THE MOVIE.

Great cars and you can see the beach, no hotels !!!!! The long-awaited, much-deserved joy is very apparent here!

JUST THINK HOW THIS YOUNG LADY FELT WHEN SHE DISCOVERED THE VIDEO HER FATHER SHOT.
Great video of a Spontaneous Victory Parade in Honolulu in 1945. Take a look at this video-absolutely fabulous! Notice the cars and jeeps, youth.

The guys in khaki or gray shirts and black ties are Navy officers or chiefs. The rest are Army or Marine. How young they all were to do what they did.

This guy really captured a moment in history! This is a super video of a time past - we need to remember and be THANKFUL.

Check out the color fidelity. It's not bad for 1945. Nothing will ever compare with Kodachrome film.

To put the joy of the moment in perspective, consider that leading up to this event, the US was preparing an invasion of the Japanese Home Islands and expecting US casualties of as many as 4,000,000 and fatalities as high as 800,000.

Suddenly, Japan surrendered. The relief must have been dramatic.

Vaporizing the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki had a lot to do with the sudden surrender...

It was estimated that Operation Downfall (the invasion of Japan) would have resulted in 5-10,000,000 Japanese casualties. While the two atomic bombs resulted in horrorific casualties, invading the Home Islands would have been much worse for the Japanese people.

The point of my earlier post was to convey that the American public was preparing themselves for a bloodbath to end the war, and the surrender came so quickly it must have been a huge relief.

That is a great video, but, now, its sad, why, because back then, the United States was a super power, respected and feared by its enemies. The people pulled together for a common cause, to defeat the enemies of the of the United States. We were at our peak of freedoms. Our manufacturing at home was tuned like a well oiled machine. Now, compare those days with today. You see, its sad, very sad. Now, We are being undermined and destroyed from within, by our own government.

You are absolutely correct, and it is sad indeed. I was going to "like" your post but then I thought wait a minute, I do not like it, not at all. I totally agree, but very much do not like.
