My Bimart here in potland, $8.99 was the highest price! Are they screwin' you, worse, up there? Not sure if the primers here were match or large rifle mags for that price?
I passed on those. The most I ever paid was $5 as that's my limi. I'm 74 and I think I have enough for the duration.

Oh, I pass on those two. I've paid $8.00 a sleeve from a vendor or two at the collectors show here just to buff up my numbers a bit. I can do a lot of loading with what I have. I still like to keep and eye on things though. It gives me a feeling of comfort to see a dozen different powders at my Bimart now!

FWIW, I just picked up 2 sleeves of CCI BR-2 large rifle primers at my local Sportsman's Warehouse for $9.99 each. A little pricey, but they are BR-2's, and large rifle primers are still somewhat rare.

Lately very darned rare in my experience. Locally and at all the usual suppliers online.

At this point, I can only assume that most of the large primer production capacity is directed to military ammunition for the war in Ukraine. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that our domestic ammo factories are supplying lots of 7.62x39 and x54 to Ukraine for use in Soviet-era weapons they have. And probably they've got some 7.62x51 NATO MG's by now.

Bi Mart in Hoquiam Washington add CCI 450s for $8.99 a sleeve so I left them there.

They also had powders at decent prices so I picked up three more pounds of TiteGroup at $28 per pound.:eek::eek:
Like I needed more (7)….

You're set for life on Titegroup, a little goes a long way.

Those flattened ball powders seem to be the least expensive.

I was able to buy two sleeves of #209 primers today. At Sports Emporium, of all places. Which may be one of the last brick and mortar gun dealers in the City of Seattle. And which I wouldn't drive all the way down there for 200 primers but I was headed that way anyway. They are on 4th Ave. South in the heart of the Badlands. Today I had an appointment at the VA down that way, plus stops at the scrap metal dealer and the bread thrift store. So I thought I'd go into Sports Emporium re. the primers. Which I hadn't been into since Seattle instituted that ill-advised tax on ammunition. I was surprised to see the number of customers they had there in the middle of the day. Including in the gun dept.

Mrs. Caveman found these at SW, she didn't tell me the price until she got home, I would have turned them down. They were $8.25 last month now $9.99/150. Got 10 sleeves (1,500) for $99.90 + tax $110.:s0118:

But at least I'm gonna be able to load some more of the LC brass I've squandered away.

$8.25 was for the small pistol packs not small rifle. But at least that still comes out to $73.33 per 1k. Next time you spend $50 or more at SW, grab one of the hunting/fishing reg books, there is a $10off coupon in all of them that you can use.

Loading .223 with those? I was under the impression you should use the thicker cup version? Some time ago I stumbled on the CCI 41s at a reasonable price so use them because I thought I was supposed to. I've heard it both ways though.

The #41s are ment more for AR platforms but they all work.

I have been lucky finding primers at Skagit Arms. I don't get up there that often but last time I think I paid 65 per K for Winchester SPP and 90ish for Federal Gold Match SPP.

I've never had a problem with these or CCI 400/450's.
IMHO, the 41's they say should be used with an AR is just a guideline, not gospel.

I wonder why they would be a different price for the pistol or the rifle, I don't believe CCI has that same practice.

I was at The Tigard Bi-Mart last week and saw (3) 1000 count bricks of CCI military sm rilfe primers at $110.

Nope.....not for me.

Aloha, Mark
