Who cares.

The guns we're getting destroyed one way or another. Grow up.
Yes they were going to get chopped. Since they are a local employer glad it did not make them shut down. Telling people who still have a bad taste in their mouth over it to grow up is never going to win them back as customers. It was a VERY tone deaf choice they made to do this, there is other manufacturers making knives in the US that are VERY well made. So its going to be a long time for them to live this choice they made down. This was a lot like Bud making that choice they did to use that kook to advertise for them. It sadly cost a LOT of good paying jobs for people who worked for them. Companies make choices. The REALLY poor ones were not hard to avoid making but damn do they take a long time to undo the damage. :s0092:

Cool. Go buy from them then. Benchmade already got your money. Their leadership there is known to be left leaning. This shouldn't be a surprise.

So pro LE but not when it comes to helping/assisting them in destroying evidence. Got it.

How many non 2A companies do you buy from? I'm sure a ton. We all do.

Wasn't happy to when I first heard of Benchmade and their destroying of firearms...no matter the reason or rationale.

Kind like how I feel about old Bill Ruger and his stance on so called high capacity magazines and his Mini 14 / Mini 30 rifles.

Neither seems quite right to me .

in any event...
It happened....arguing 'bout it won't change a damn thing.

As for Benchmade...they no longer make the one knife model ( 505 Monarch ) of theirs that I did like...so buying ain't an option for me.

I wasn't living in Oregon yet when this went down, but I remember hearing about it on the Florida gun forum I frequented.
By the way, the same negative reaction was happening over there.
Were those weapons police confiscations and did Benchmade offer to destroy the firearms for free or were they paid to do the deed?

IIRC they did it as a "favor" for the department who asked. Then again IIRC, the department posted those pics on social media and of course the SHTF with the people who made the stupid call to do it hiding under their desks. It cost the Co a lot of lifetime customers who will never come back to them. Again tone deaf. As so often happens people high up in some Co seem to have no common sense when it comes to the customer base they have.

In all seriousness-

Who do you suggest the LE agency take the guns to to be destroyed? Did it have to be a super democrat/anti 2A company? Or would you still like Benchmade if they would have done it behind closed doors and kept it a secret from the public? Benchmade wasn't even the one who posted about it. Oregon City LE did. And we all know Benchmade will never assist them again because of the backlash.

I personally don't think benchmades are that great and are overpriced. For awhile I boycotted them as well. Until I saw past it. I don't buy their knives because there are better options. But I personally don't care about the "incident" at all anymore.

@Usmc1775 telling another man to grow up because of why, and who, I choose to spend my money with is cute. If you want to keep supporting stuff that doesn't align with your values that's up to you and you're free to comply as hard as you want.

There is also a weird hardline that you're holding here. Just because people don't want to buy Benchmade after they did this doesn't make them patently anti-LE. By the way, the police could have handled destroying the guns on their own with a $300 bandsaw from Harbor Freight

Ah yes. Spend the peoples tax dollars destroying the guns. Cause that's much better…..

Spend your money however you like. I don't care. Lol. Sh!t talking a company for simply helping out their local LE agency is dumb and childish in my opinion. But you do you.

What exactly did Benchmade do wrong?

Jesus, man. If that would bother you, you probably shouldn't look at what else they spend our tax dollars on. God forbid a department has a tool laying around 🤣.

There's a quick $18,000,000 in settlements. Not to mention the taxpayer funded work that went into them.

Again? How many times are you going to bring this up? Especially because...
Who cares.

The guns we're getting destroyed one way or another. Grow up.
100% agree. Because of this right here.
Ok, now blame the Police, too?
My shop in OC is not far from Benchmade. After seeing all of the stupid chit talked by you keyboard warriors I almost contacted OC Police to see if they needed a hand the next go-round. I can't believe the depths that people go to smear someone/thing.

I won't buy from Midway because they won't ship mags to Oregon. Does that mean they are a POS company to deal with? No, but unfortunately they are too lazy to keep up with the law. This is something real, unlike the hate Benchmade received from helping the local police department. I thought helping the cops was a good thing.

And this has what to do with an EDC knife?

Remember, this is a thread about knives, not lawsuits.

It must be opposite day. Usually we are fairly well in sync. Not here. I try to avoid Benchmade and the Police. I just received an order from Midway USA last week.

My reasoning may be a little different than some. I avoid Benchmade because I've already got enough knives that someone might think I'm a collector (I'm not.), and they're way more than I want to spend. I avoid the cops because I don't want my car insurance rates to get any higher. Midway USA not selling magazines doesn't bother me in the least. They're certainly not obligated to sell me anything. As long as they haven't taken an openly anti-2A stance (think Dick's), if they're running a sale - I'm all over it. Besides, the Potterfields and Midway USA have done more to support the NRA and other outdoor groups such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation financially over the years, than 99.9%+ of other businesses. Midway USA is NOT our enemy.

I avoid buying more Benchmades cuz we (wife n I) have two very nice hunting knives from them that we use. I have a bunch of other knives, too, but those are our hunters. Otherwise, I'm a cheap SOB and have two perfectly acceptable pocket knives I like. Benchmades are local, which is cool, but not inexpensive and I got lots of stuff already.
Midway is a very good company, but their response last time made me believe that my two cents were just that, 2 cents in their full bucket.
I spose in the light of what's actually going on, I could take a few minutes to send them an e-mail asking them to look into this issue once again.
Can't hurt to try. I'll circle back around when I find out.

I'm a cheap SOB
Not as cheap as some. :s0162: My "go-to" gutting knife is a Havalon Piranta plastic replaceable blade knife that I got free with my subscription to Eastman's Hunting Journal. It looks like cheap junk, but cuts like a surgeon's scalpel. My more serious cutting/deboning knife is an old Schrade Walden fixed blade that I got for Christmas when I wasn't even old enough to get a hunting license yet. It was a gift from my older sister, and I was shocked my parents let her give me such a deadly tool. :) Sis has been gone for over ten years now, but the knife stays with me on all of my hunts.

Heck. I wouldn't bother with that. I'm happy to buy from those who WANT to sell me magazines. They are a large company. Like any large company, they probably have plenty of bureaucracy.

Seems like a very bureaucratic response. And when you say "copied and pasted" that is likely what it was - and not just by you. :s0140:

I get most of my mags from ebay or GunMag Warehouse. I'll still look to Midway for deals on other stuff, and of course my special birthday pricing every year. :p

My reply.

Kimmy,
Thank you for the quick response, but it's still the same old answer. No. This issue is not so fluid that your company couldn't have made a different decision at any time. I encourage someone there to take less than half an hour and correct this issue.
