Yes they were going to get chopped. Since they are a local employer glad it did not make them shut down. Telling people who still have a bad taste in their mouth over it to grow up is never going to win them back as customers. It was a VERY tone deaf choice they made to do this, there is other manufacturers making knives in the US that are VERY well made. So its going to be a long time for them to live this choice they made down. This was a lot like Bud making that choice they did to use that kook to advertise for them. It sadly cost a LOT of good paying jobs for people who worked for them. Companies make choices. The REALLY poor ones were not hard to avoid making but damn do they take a long time to undo the damage.Who cares.

Cool. Go buy from them then. Benchmade already got your money. Their leadership there is known to be left leaning. This shouldn't be a surprise.Yes they were going to get chopped. I wasn't living in Oregon yet when this went down, but I remember hearing about it on the Florida gun forum I frequented.

By the way, the same negative reaction was happening over there.
Were those weapons police confiscations and did Benchmade offer to destroy the firearms for free or were they paid to do the deed?
IIRC they did it as a "favor" for the department who asked. Then again IIRC, the department posted those pics on social media and of course the SHTF with the people who made the stupid call to do it hiding under their desks. It cost the Co a lot of lifetime customers who will never come back to them. Again tone deaf. As so often happens people high up in some Co seem to have no common sense when it comes to the customer base they have.I wasn't living in Oregon yet when this went down, but I remember hearing about it on the Florida gun forum I frequented.

In all seriousness-IIRC they did it as a "favor" for the department who asked. Ah yes. Spend the peoples tax dollars destroying the guns. Cause that's much better…..@Usmc1775 telling another man to grow up because of why, and who, I choose to spend my money with is cute. If you want to keep supporting stuff that doesn't align with your values that's up to you and you're free to comply as hard as you want.
There is also a weird hardline that you're holding here. Just because people don't want to buy Benchmade after they did this doesn't make them patently anti-LE. By the way, the police could have handled destroying the guns on their own with a $300 bandsaw from Harbor Freight
Again? How many times are you going to bring this up? Especially because...
100% agree. Because of this right here.Who cares.

Ok, now blame the Police, too?
And this has what to do with an EDC knife?Jesus, man. If that would bother you, you probably shouldn't look at what else they spend our tax dollars on. God forbid a department has a tool laying around.

Oregon police, forensics lab actions result in $14 million payout for Coos County man
The Oregon State Police forensic lab agreed to pay millions as part of a settlement after failing to disclose DNA evidence in the decades-old homicide of Leah Freeman.www.opb.org
There's a quick $18,000,000 in settlements. Not to mention the taxpayer funded work that went into them.
It must be opposite day. Usually we are fairly well in sync. Not here. I try to avoid Benchmade and the Police. I just received an order from Midway USA last week.I won't buy from Midway because they won't ship mags to Oregon. Does that mean they are a POS company to deal with? No, but unfortunately they are too lazy to keep up with the law. This is something real, unlike the hate Benchmade received from helping the local police department. I thought helping the cops was a good thing.![]()
I avoid buying more Benchmades cuz we (wife n I) have two very nice hunting knives from them that we use. I have a bunch of other knives, too, but those are our hunters. Otherwise, I'm a cheap SOB and have two perfectly acceptable pocket knives I like. Benchmades are local, which is cool, but not inexpensive and I got lots of stuff already. It must be opposite day. My reasoning may be a little different than some. I avoid Benchmade because I've already got enough knives that someone might think I'm a collector (I'm not.), and they're way more than I want to spend. I avoid the cops because I don't want my car insurance rates to get any higher. Midway USA not selling magazines doesn't bother me in the least. They're certainly not obligated to sell me anything. As long as they haven't taken an openly anti-2A stance (think Dick's), if they're running a sale - I'm all over it. Besides, the Potterfields and Midway USA have done more to support the NRA and other outdoor groups such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation financially over the years, than 99.9%+ of other businesses. Midway USA is NOT our enemy.
Not as cheap as some.I'm a cheap SOB
My "go-to" gutting knife is a Havalon Piranta plastic replaceable blade knife that I got free with my subscription to Eastman's Hunting Journal. It looks like cheap junk, but cuts like a surgeon's scalpel. My more serious cutting/deboning knife is an old Schrade Walden fixed blade that I got for Christmas when I wasn't even old enough to get a hunting license yet. It was a gift from my older sister, and I was shocked my parents let her give me such a deadly tool. Heck. I wouldn't bother with that. I'm happy to buy from those who WANT to sell me magazines. They are a large company. Like any large company, they probably have plenty of bureaucracy.I spose in the light of what's actually going on, I could take a few minutes to send them an e-mail asking them to look into this issue once again.

Seems like a very bureaucratic response. And when you say "copied and pasted" that is likely what it was - and not just by you. This didn't take long... Copied and pasted.
