Cheap tools are worth half of what you paid, and even less than what you'll pay down the road for them.

Firearm specific bore alignment rods can get expensive. One cheap alternative is to buy tool steel rods from McMasters-Carr. They typically only sell business to business, but if you know what you want and order by part number, they usually don't care. They don't like to hold someone's hands trying to figure out what they want. These rods are annealed and don't come hardened, so check them for trueness and dress the ends. 8893K193 usually works for .223 / 5.56 (can be tight)
8893K219 usually works for .300 BO / .308 (a little loose)
