Depends on the cities/areas. Might be more like Wyoming (no one seems to want to move to Wyoming from Portland/Seattle/etc). Spokane is the questionable one for a new State in East Washington; but in East Oregon there's Pendleton, Hermiston and Ontario? If you made a new state the Dems would take that over too.
Perhaps. If you made a new state the Dems would take that over too.
Although this would be a dream come true, there is absolutely no way in hell that this will come to pass and it's my personal opinion that the time and energy spent on this effort would be better allocated to more realistic goals, such as repealing clearly unconstitutional firearm laws or furthering conservative candidates campaigns to affect change. It seems like the "Greater Idaho" movement is gaining traction. I recall years ago, talk about Eastern Washington and northern Idaho forming the state of Lincoln. Maybe Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington should join and form a new state, since both areas are politically and economically similar, and so radically different from the coasts.
Blame SCOTUS for this in Reynolds v SimsPerhaps.
However if the new states constitutions were written correctly, urban population centers couldn't out vote / overrule rural areas.
Thinking along the lines of county electoral college for State level issues...
Get rid of really crappy democracy/majority rule.
Go back to Democratic Republic governance.
Nope, close the borders to keep out the undesirables by any means necessary. If you made a new state the Dems would take that over too.
Unfortunately, that's probably not far enough away. Cancer spreads. How long until Boise turns blue and decides the fate for the rest of Idaho? Depending on your age, you might factor that into your decision making.Still looking online at houses in Lewiston, Idaho.
Indeed. The same can be said for Republicans; if enough voters would remind them that 2A is more important than religion, abortion, or "punishing" the other Party....Society elects our representatives if you want to keep your rights you have to change society or that same society is only going to grow (and take over your new state or wherever you move to). If enough Democrats started supporting gun rights, their politicians would stop infringing on them.

I dont know of any gun control policies Republicans actively and regularly pursue as part of their platfom.Indeed. The same can be said for Republicans; if enough voters would remind them that 2A is more important than religion, abortion, or "punishing" the other Party....
Edit. 2A is apparently not a top priority for the GOP, based on their platform planks and actions.
Just once Id like to see a Party be successful that respects all of the Constitution and not cherry pick certain things to be for and against![]()
About to turn 70, so hopefully enough time to live free before I pass away. Also hoping that the majority of people moving into Idaho share the political views of Washington state refugees.Unfortunately, that's probably not far enough away. Cancer spreads. Okay do you know of any major gun rights movement that is dominating the GOP platform? As opposed to say... Religion and abortion and "ending wokeness"? Just saying.I dont know of any gun control policies Republicans actively and regularly pursue as part of their platfom.
Gun rights is a cultural ideology and for an ideology to thrive it has to be bipartisan. Typically liberals do not care about gun rights or they wouldnt elect or support their representatives that make gun control a main part of their platform.
Should they be?Okay do you know of any major gun rights movement that is dominating the GOP platform? As opposed to say... Religion and abortion and "ending wokeness"? Just saying.
Most, nah. I'm going to say right now, a minority of the GOP politicians actually do actively support 2A. The majority are neutral on the matter (leave 2A and leave State gun laws alone), and a vocal few are against 2A, through their actions (helping pass anti2A things for example, killing the Hearing Protection Act over and over). Silence is not support, IMO.Should they be?
The GOP is never going to be a single issue platform thats true.
Most GOP politicians support gun rights, most Democrat politicians support gun control.
If anythings going to change the focus is on the Democrat side of things.
I just dont know of anytime where the party as a platform has campaigned on passing gun control. Most, nah. That's a red herring. Edit 2. That's the same as saying I don't know of any time where Democrats as a party has campaigned on repealing gun control lawsI just dont know of anytime where the party as a platform has campaigned on passing gun control.
But if they did that what would they fundraise on?Edit. If the GOP would put in even half the work that the Democrats do, in relation to 2A, maybe we wouldn't be in this situation where many gun owners don't know anything about gun control laws being passed.
Well Trump has suggested national reciprocity.Edit. If the GOP would put in even half the work that the Democrats do, in relation to 2A, maybe we wouldn't be in this situation where many gun owners don't know anything about gun control laws being passed.
