The latest round of proposed legislation has pushed a bit too far. I need to start researching legal ways to affect legislators, on a personal level, because this is personal for me. They don't know what "shall not be infringed" means. I am starting to formulate an action plan.
Any ideas? Please, nothing flippant or juvenile.

Nothing juvenile...

Seriously though... I wish you, and all the current West Coasters, the best in the battle. (legal battle ... shouldn't even have to specify that)

Is it juvenile to hire a PI to dig up dirt on said legislators and judges to then be provided to friendly media outlets to run stories on?

Here is what I posted on the record and to my district legislators:

BILL: 1132 - Enhancing public safety by limiting bulk purchases and transfers of firearms and ammunition. (Against)

SUBJECT: Comment on Bill 1132

MESSAGE:

This bill does nothing to improve public safety. It only further deprives law abiding citizens of their 2nd Amendment rights under the Constitution of the United States of America. If this, along with the other draconian bills submitted this session pass into law, many will choose to relocate from Washington to a free state, where the rights of citizens are respected and protected by their elected representatives.

Probably won't make a hint of difference, but at least I am on record. Still looking online at houses in Lewiston, Idaho.

They don't know what "shall not be infringed" means.

Wrong. They know and they do not care.

They aren't at all afraid of gun owners going after them. Gun owners do not have the will to actually get off their butts and either vote them out, or sue the pants off them. There is one other option but we are discouraged from stating it.

I would not be posting about "personal" impacts on public officials in an open forum. It doesn't help you, and it doesn't help the broader image of gun owners.

Fact of the matter is, they have names and addresses so why not just knock on their door and ask em real nice to just stahp it.

Hate to say it, but it'll probably require several years (decades) of consistent messaging/advertising (and the budget to support that) to start moving the needle in the right direction. Not that it can't be done, it just takes coordination, fundraising, messaging and counterpoints to anti-gun positions that the majority of Washingtonians will be receptive to, people to deliver that messaging who are likeable, articulate, and appealing to a broad range of demographics... stuff like that.

If HB 1504 (requirement for "financial responsibility" to purchase or own firearms) passes, we'll know that our state has completely gone off the cliff. It's the most heinous, unconstitutional and discriminatory piece of legislation we could ever see -- absolutely no one except the very rich will be able to buy or possess firearms.

I told my legislators that it'll completely eliminate the RKBA for the poor and minorities, but they all responded that they are concerned about ensuring safety and well-being of all subjects, er, citizens without addressing any of the points I made.

I'll be exiting this liberal hellhole most ricky-tick if/when the latest round of bills are signed into law by Turd Ferguson.

That is spot on, I've sent the same messages for 20+ years and sadly that response will always be discarded by TPTB. Next time be sure to also quote Article 1 Section 24 of the Washington State Constitution, shall not be impaired.
You are exactly right to call them out for what/are they have been doing for years.

Good luck finding some free dirt brother. :s0155:

True points @Old Dog . I've come to the realization since I 594 was shoved down our throats that this states D elected officials could care less what law abiding citizens say. They will do whatever they want with no reprisals whatsoever.
They will be banking that for every conservative that leaves this state an East Coast or California progressive will buy or rent the house you've resided in.

The real fight is to repeal the mail in voting diabolical because since TPTB installed it, the fox has been in the henhouse counting the votes and it will always be in their favor. Change my mind.

Just keep emailing them and begging for your rights back. These are reasonable people after all.

It seems like the "Greater Idaho" movement is gaining traction. I recall years ago, talk about Eastern Washington and northern Idaho forming the state of Lincoln. Maybe Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington should join and form a new state, since both areas are politically and economically similar, and so radically different from the coasts.

Going to be very difficult to get all three State Legislatures and Federal Congress to consent to either changing State borders or forming a new State.

I was just suggesting two states, and leaving Idaho out of it. And yes, it would be difficult, but that's not a reason to not try. The dems keep wanting to make Puerto Rico a state. This could be a tradeoff to maintain balance. Changing the political climate of Olympia and Salem would be difficult also, but you either try or give up. Of course, I'm speaking as an outside observer, and throwing stuff out there for ideas.
