I wonder if my unit ever found the missing 249 with a PEQ 15 attached. That was a fun 48hrs at company level tearing everything up and down looking for a MG 3 or 4 times over. Nothing like starving and being highly pissed off at the same time for something nobody knew about til we did a 100% inspection.

This was well over 10 years ago...

I'd never suggest doing an Illegal Act.
Just grinding off the rust. Maybe a wire brush might have been better? Serial numbers are sometimes sooo difficult to read.

Fort Lewis lost like 220 M-16 receivers back 35 years ago. One of the base Armorers walked off with them sold them all over the place until he got caught up with. I understand they got a few back. but there is still a bunch of them floating around somewhere.
