Bought a little black plastic project box from Rat Shack, put in a red, flashing L.E.D.,with a fall back relay. I hooked it to the ignition, so when the key was off, it would start to blink and mounted it where it was clearly visible with dbl backed tape. Never had any car prowls. You could add a couple of batteries, a dummy lens and mount one over your doorway.
