I think that should go without saying.

Mechanically safe STOCK gun. In a quality holster. Free of debris. At that point it should be considered a safe gun.

Unless it's a P320….
One would think that would go without saying however too many accidental discharges were attributed to improper holstering of cocked revolvers. Hence new yuck with DAO revolvers and heavy trigger glocks.

Well yea. The P320 is out there along with heavily modified Glocks and other striker fired pistols. I wouldn't call those safe.
Im ignoring the 320 for a moment because clearly that one is an example. But I have some modified glocks that im 100% confident are safe in holsters.
I cant speak for other peoples guns though which is why Id say maybe guns in holsters does not mean safe.

You can break 1 safety rule and normally get away with it. Things gets dangerous when you break 2 of them. And that can be heavily dictated by the firearm involved.

Then as general principal, unless you plan on stopping to interrogate each owner about their gun's manufacturer, make, and mechanical condition, you've gotta assume the risk that they aren't safe and act accordingly. I know MY holstered guns are safe, but I can't assume the same for everyone else's.

That wasn't my original question. But yes I agree with you on that.

Safety standards are going to differ person to person as well. One person may claim a modification is safe where I may be hesitant to agree. It's their gun. They can carry it all they want, however they want. But I don't feel bad when they are leaking. And if they end up harming another they should pay for it.

Let's see.

If you jam your gun into it's holster and don't notice something caught against the face of the trigger?
And you shot your dick off?

Well. Is your now holstered gun safe?

To me the problem with striker fired handguns with no manual safety is paying attention to holstering it. Not having it in the holster.

It's also good to actually care about what it's pointing at during the holstering process. :s0053:

And for the record I carry a Glock OWB every day. So I like these guns. [Well......... Not the sig 320 ].

I carry a Glock appendix everyday.

I carried a P320 X5 Legion appendix for about a year……. I count my blessings.

I have tried and tried to get an empty glock to discharge when holstering with one of the holsters that supposedly makes them go off with no luck. I am still of the opinion it takes a negligent digit or foreign material to make it happen. Even when purposely severely canting gun to try and get holster to contact trigger safety it would not happen.

I'm about to pick up a P320. Haha. If I can get one dirt cheap to play around with some things. See if I can add to the sh!t show. Once I'm done I'll just throw it in the trash and put the FCU deep in the safe.
