For the enlightenment of others. I know some people seem to know everything but some of us like to be educated by fact rather than opinion.

5.7x28 is nowhere near the ballistic equivalent of 5.56 NATO . It's a security detail round. A little better on body armor at close range than 9mm but it's absolutely nowhere near the ballistics of 5.56 … or 222 Remington:).

I never said it was nor did I ever say it was as powerful as 5.56. I said 5.7MMJ is more powerful than 5.7x28 and a good round as a PDW for security work. You do read, right? Look up narcissism, I think you might have it.

Oh yeah the round no one's ever heard of

That's a matter of education. Johnson offered to re-barrel all Carbines in inventory (mid to late1950s) but Stoner was working on the M16 and at that particular time the higher up's in the Defense Department refused to consider a .22 caliber cartridge. Fast forward to 1962 and they start testing the M16. And, just saying, but it would have been a decent jungle weapon.

Melvin Johnson (you know who he was, right?) developed his cartridge specifically in the hopes his suggestion would be acted upon so only around 250 rifles were built by Johnson Arms. I've two, a Johnson and an IAI (which is of lessor quality) and they work great but the original Johnson's work best as they had a modified feed ramp. An original Johnson will handle spire points, the later jobs only feed round nose as they have the original feed ramp.

I've been a member of this forum since 2010, I found it while in Iraq. The server crashed the other month and all the data and posts were lost, it's just getting it's feet on the ground again.
