What's it say on the barrel and inside the swing arm?

Smith and wesson military and police model of 1905 pre war (most likely pre 1920 based on the grips on it) try searching on the S&W forum and you will find a list of aprox manufacture date by sn#. I payed about 300 for one in a bit better shape than that a few years ago.

I was guess its worth around $150-$200 so I'm not too far off. Thanks papercidal

S&W M&P pre model 10 style, 300+ if in good condition. Still a good revolver.
