The media is going to ramp up the lying about anything that makes the blue look bad since its time to vote again. Look how they handle the stories of all the stores in places like SanFran that just closed up due to rampant theft. Media blames everything except the laws they supported allowing the scum to steal.
Maybe just slightly more cynical than you, but I believe the media is going ramp up anything that drives clicks and increases revenue. One cycle it will be how crime is destroying retail, next it will be how the execs lied about the theft to cover up mismanagement and the fallout from the opioid settlement. Pointing out that the theft wasn't as bad as the corporations claimed doesn't excuse the actual theft

The only times I go to Target in Bonney Lake are for when I need to pick up medication or to look at their cookware.

Thus I'm standing in the check out line with my bags of pills and a new non stick frying pan, idly trying to determine the gender and potential species of the blue haired whale like cashier. I've determined it is most like a female, perhaps a species of white orca that had been conscripted to this life of cashiering.

To our left a lot of yelling is going on, an anorexic appearing teenager starts jumping around a second large creature (this one is a black walrus with low quality weave work.) The poor clerks arms are flailing about like Kermit the frog, saying she cant leave yet and has to pay. She pushes her cart passed him and out the door. I instinctively grip my Luger and get ready to confront her when I had a vision of the future. I saw myself being handcuffed and sitting in the back of a squad car.

The poster child for anorexia didn't follow her outside, why should I risk my safety and freedom?

This wasn't my battle, not worth the risks involved to "do the right thing". I'd have liked to have done something but I believe I made the right choice to not go after the walrus, it's not as if I packed my spear gun for such an occasion anyhow.
That's theft, not robbery.

Sure let me know when they run stories about how the law makers allowed the scum free to roam and do this for clicks. I will not hold my breath waiting for that click bait.

You mean like this one?

Or maybe this one?

Or how about

And before you say that you actually meant sources like CNN, MSNBC or whatever, that would be like asking for me to let you know when a fast food place like McDonalds' or Wendys offers sit down Michelin Star dining. They are business and they are out to make a profit so they cater to the folks that what to buy what they are selling. Kind of like why nypost.com has their font set at extra large cataract size, they know their audience

Here, Target works with other stores to collect data on frequent fliers. I've been on a ride-long and witnessed an arrest first hand. Caught her less than a block away from the store. Took her back and had loss prevention make the call based on her cumulative total and frequent flier status. Booked her but they let her out within a few hours. Had all sorts of drug paraphernalia in her back pack and residue in a few bags.

A lot if what happens depends on the DA as well as bed space available in the jails.
Target reportedly has this cool trick they do with their cameras and facial recognition were they "let" folks walk out the door without paying and they keep track of what that person took, and as soon as it hits the magic number they arrest them for grand larceny. I think I did see that they changed policy to allow employees to stop people for trying to walk with items valued at $50.00, the old limit was $100.00.

Dude! Why you gotta denigrate whales and walruseses like that?

I kid.

Words I try to live by...

Not my pasture

Not my cows

Not my bulls**t

I am damn sure not stepping in to protect somebody else's stuff...and most certainly not a giant corporations stuff.

No immediate threat to you or your loved ones, then you did the right thing. It's not your responsibility to be loss prevention or security for the store. Be a good witness and you've more than fulfilled any perceived moral obligation.

Well, we should all be happy the OP is so proud of himself.

I carry a 1936 P-08, refinished but still has a few tiny pits.
So my question would be, how does it feed modern JHPs?

But sorry, one doesn't need a firearm to confront or prevent some assclowns from performing retail theft. But if you're morally flexible enough to stand by when some lowlife engages in criminal activity, that's on you. Next time I shop at a Target, I'll thank all the little people that make the high prices possible.

I don't run jhp. Initially I had a lot of stove pipes, after replacing the springs it ran flawlessly on cheap 115gr fmj target loads.

I'm not a cop, I'm not Target security, I'm not about to sprint across a store to grab onto a shopping cart and possibly tussle with a scumbag. If someone was being assaulted or robbed I'd have stepped in. As is... I assume their parking lot has security cameras and got her license plate number.

You want to put an end to this bull, then VOTE for those who will prosecute these predators.

One does not have to draw a weapon in such a case. Follow the bad actor and document what you see. Get a good description, direction of travel, etc.. Call the cops.
"All that is required for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
You did nothing, and allowed (in this small instance) evil to triumph.

I disagree. I have zero moral or legal responsibility to protect that corporation. They even fire their own employees that unlawfully detain someone that is suspected to have committed petty theft. Expect the store to sue you if you decide to detain someone on their property. If it was a felony, you MIGHT be able to convince a jury that what you did was appropriate, but that's highly dependent on circumstances and location. Here in Salem, you're more than likely to go to jail if you step in when it's none of your business. Expect charges from the person you detained and assaulted as well as from the store.

If they come for you smack them with the frying pan first! (Our usual conundrum--- I wish I had bought that heavier (higher caliber) skillet!!). Pulling your gun is only a very last resort, especially in a crowd.
