Last time I was at the range , the shooter next to me had some sort of pistol with muzzle brake.
LOUD does not begin to describe it....I actually flinched when he was shooting it...as I said loud .

I guess I should feel bad after I touched off my Hawken...and he started coughing from the black powder smoke...
I should feel bad.....but.....I .....don't....

I get the "why" behind muzzle breaks...and don't have an issue with them....just haven't shot at range with 'em for a while.
So gotta get used to other folks and their foolishness.....
Kidding here....it is a public range....all I really ask is that you shoot safe...and pick up after yourself.

Given a choice of benches, I won't sit next to or near one. There is one rifle bench (position no. 1) on the far end of the line at the range where I'm a member. That's where I go when I can when I shoot an M1 Rifle. Some people don't want one of those next to them, either. At least one side is unpopulated. We have screens to set up to keep hot brass off neighbors. I don't work as an RSO anymore due to hearing disability, but were I doing so, I'd send a shooter with a muzzle brake to the far positions(s) as a courtesy to other shooters.

I shoot with two buddies with muzzle brakes. One often shoots a 6.5 CM and the other a .308. The .308 is bananas percussive and I feel like I'm doing damage with double ear pro. The 6.5 is not as bad, but both, if you are at the bench beside them give you a direct inject of ammonia gas up your beak.

It's a range, guns are going to be loud. Reminds me of a time I was shooting my unsuppressed .50 with a giant brake and the weeny people who showed up after me didn't bring any ear pro because they wanted to shoot suppressed only. And they complained loudly about it. Oh well, wad up a cotton ball 'cause I'm about to send another one.

Our clubs require them, even if unused. Plus eye protection.

Shooting suppressed supers w/o ears? Great way to cause hearing damage!
