How much extra ammo do you carry with you?

I'm wondering how much extra ammo, if any, you guys carry with you on your normal average every day outings besides what's loaded, obviously? Just going to the store. Or just running random errands on your days off of work. I guess I am also curious if everybody takes their firearm with them to work and obviously leaves it locked up in the car or if you don't bother bringing your firearm with you when you drive to work? And I am also wondering how safe is it to store any extra ammo that you might bring with you on errands or to sit in your car while at work on these hot days? Thanks in advance for your insights.

I carry a 1000 rounds per gun in a 50 cal can and tell people it's my lunchbox…




Naw I keep one extra mag on me and unless I have to go thru a metal detector I keep my gun on me always.

The longer you carry the more creative you'll become and at some point you realize that the only person that knows you have a gun is you.

Yep same here. I don't think there has ever been a self defense shooting that a extra mag was used.

7 in my p938 another 7 on my belt, always on me never leave a gun in my car.
Work allows permit carriers to have it on you.

I always have a couple extra mags in the car. If I'm going to a place where my chances of having to use are considerably higher, I'll pack one extra mag on my body. It's pretty rare though for this country boy.

Full mag in pistol. 2 extra mags, and a box of ammo in my day pack. I don't imagine ever needing extra mags, but started doing it when protestors started blocking streets a few years ago. It goes to show how quickly things can dissolve to chaos. Figured it would be good to have if you need to fight through a crowd.

Ammo is known to degrade with extended heat. I would bring your sidearm and reloads in a bag, into climate controlled area, on hot days like this. Assuming your work has a secure place to put it, if not on your body.

One full mag in the pistol and two extra mags pretty much all the time unless attending a pool party then just one in the pipe .

16+1 in the pistol, plus two extra 16 round mags as my daily carry for most of the year!
When I carry the compact, it's 12+1 plus 1 spare 12 rounder!
When I carry one of the Revolvers, it's 5 or 6 ( depending on the gun) plus at least two speed loaders, again, depending on which gun i'm carrying!
I also ALWAYS carry a truck rifle, one of my handy carbines, and ether full battle load of mags, or for those that use stripper clips, a full battle load out plus my plate carrier and plates and vest/chest rig!

Varies. Generally what is in the pistol or revolver and one or two reloading devices (e.g., magazine or speedloader). When hiking with a revolver, usually what is in the firearm, and a loading device with solids and another with CCI shot.
