Yeah....I miss Hawaii.Yesterday was my sister's 78th birthday. Because she lives at some distance from me, I have a tradition of calling her every birthday. She and her husband have a second home in Embalm Springs. When she answered the phone, they were driving out to eat. When she got to the restaurant, she said, "Hold on a minute, we have to dash inside because it's 118 degrees out."
I don't think I want to live any place where it gets that hot. Ever. One time I was driving from the Phoenix area to Reno, taking Highway 93, then Hwy. 95. Out north of Kingman, you drive along Hwy. 95, up a grade for a bit, then when it tops out, you drop down into a place called Golden Valley. Lots of mobile homes baking in the sun. Very few trees. Most of the "town" streets laid out in a grid with lots of gaps, some places look uninhabited. Not many paved roads. Overall, very deserted looking. I guess it's one of those places where people go to live in retirement and bask in the sun; yet for long periods, they huddle indoors to take advantage of the AC. I don't get it.
It's got nothing on Yuma.Having lived there I can testify to the accuracy of this
