Yesterday was my sister's 78th birthday. Because she lives at some distance from me, I have a tradition of calling her every birthday. She and her husband have a second home in Embalm Springs. When she answered the phone, they were driving out to eat. When she got to the restaurant, she said, "Hold on a minute, we have to dash inside because it's 118 degrees out."

I don't think I want to live any place where it gets that hot. Ever. One time I was driving from the Phoenix area to Reno, taking Highway 93, then Hwy. 95. Out north of Kingman, you drive along Hwy. 95, up a grade for a bit, then when it tops out, you drop down into a place called Golden Valley. Lots of mobile homes baking in the sun. Very few trees. Most of the "town" streets laid out in a grid with lots of gaps, some places look uninhabited. Not many paved roads. Overall, very deserted looking. I guess it's one of those places where people go to live in retirement and bask in the sun; yet for long periods, they huddle indoors to take advantage of the AC. I don't get it.

Heat sucks. Bring on winter.

I had 117 in the shade on my deck in the Dalles once. The problem with dry heat is that you dont realize how dehydrated youre getting when the sweat evaporates the instant it leaves your pores.

I used to live in Sacramento.
Some days it was so hot that it actually hurt to step outside into the sun.
In 06' It had been 117 degrees for about two weeks straight, so I took a drive north up the coast.
I ended up in Portland. I called my girlfriend and told her I would not be returning to Sacramento. And here I am, happy!

I was in sacramento last summer when it was 108 and they had to take weight off the plane to get it to meet FAA guidelines for takeoff given the heat. Easiest way to take weight off the plane is to ask passengers to get off ($$$). I volunteered 3X in two days to get off the plane at $1000 per. Got a room, sat by the pool drinking margaritas as fast as I could sweat them out. Lucrative weekend.

Looks like I'm not the only one that will be happy when the Illuminati get done defrosting the ice wall and the Trilateral Commission can reset the thermostat

🥵

I used to live in the deserts to the south and east of there and it would indeed get real hot. Tempts over 110° happened at times, though it usually floated around the upper 90s and low 100s in the summer months.

Dry heat never bothered me, particularly if the proper precautions are taken. Hot and humid is far less pleasant for some of us. (And cold and wet — yuck.)
