Our home was hit by the bomb cyclone. Power will hopefully be restored by PSE by 11/25 at 6:00pm. Large sections of the fence blew down. Keeping warm with two natural gas fireplaces. We can also take hot showers since we a NG water heater.

Hooked to the refrigerator to and solar generator for a few hours each day but due current draw the battery is dead so need throw out all of the stuff in the refrigerator. The frozen food is doing fine since have number of ice packs and frozen water bottles inside the freezer.

The internet is bad so this will be my last post for a while most likely.

Hang in there. Here's hoping things return to normal as soon as possible for you folks.

If by chance it helps, we've had really good results with a Generac generator.

The entire back fence needs to be replaced. When things are working again I will open a claim with my insurance company. I have never claimed at for any claims at our home. I know there is a lot of damage with bomb cyclone.

Good luck.

My parents' power just came back online an hour ago. I had to go out the other day and do some road clearing to get into them because the county hadn't done it yet.

It's amazing how many people I saw drive up to me while running a saw and winching trees, gawk at me, then turn around and leave. No offers to help at all.

Sorry to hear about your freezer food but this really proves the viability of solar. For quick interruptions, solar may work but, cannot ever replace proven tactics. OP, you're a ways from me but I have an extra generator should you need it.

I got really lucky here. My neighborhood in Tacoma was totally unaffected, no wind or any rain to speak of. I feel for the folks that got hammered by this event. :(

Our neighborhood power came back on around 5:30pm on Sunday evening. PSE tried twice and failed our LED light were flickering quite severely. Finally the third time it worked and our power is still after more than 12 hours.

My younger sister and BIL live in Mirrormont just south of Issaquah. Apparently criminals were stealing generators from homes inside Mirrormont neighborhood. Very brazen but not you cannot shoot someone for stealing your generator.

I'd recommend a basic inverter generator, my most recent purchase has been a westinghouse 2550w inverter generator...

Has a rated run time of just under 500w for 12hrs on about 1.2gal of fuel.

It could charge up your solar generator when it runs low and the fridge/freezer. Using it to recharge the solar and such, it could greatly extend your power...

Inverter generators are very quite compared to traditional generators.

That's the duel fuel model, I went with the gas only.

Keep it simpler, better energy density on gasoline, I only run ethanol free gas, easier to get fuel for it...
Yes I believe in can my ethanol free gas. I keep a 22L Jerry can that use Stabilize with ethanol gas. Since use stabilize I don't have any issues with lawnmower. I use 2 cycle mix for chainsaw and it works as well. But once gone I will by ethanol free gas. I need to put stabilize for ethanol free gas instead.

I stepped up and paid the extra money and got a Honda, well worth the cost in my mind.
Cost in mind....

In the sea of generators, it's top priority to be stolen...

Lesser known quality generator gives me better piece of mine, especially after I rough up the body and rattle can it a bit...

A beat up honda is still a priority theft target.

It's all relative to how you plan on using it. I also stepped up and bought a Yamaha inverter gen, slightly more than the Honda but quieter. We use the snot out of ours for camping, power outages and more. I don't regret it one bit, I have seen personally too many Harbor Freight, Home Depot, big box store generic generators fail very quickly with minimal use. Yes they are cheaper but without complete factory support after the warranty expires, they become a throw away unit. I like to buy quality for several reasons, piece of mind is at the top.

Work crew showed up on January 2nd and torn the fence down and put new fence posts in. Yesterday the work crew arrived and put new fence sections up and replaced both gates.
