I've got a pair of Bluetooth Re Sound hearing aids. Comes with a battery pack to recharge them so there's no button cells to replace and with the app, you can adjust the different hearing settings on the fly like being in a restaurant vs being out in the woods etc. At the time WA state law said coverage for hearing aids was up to 6K, now according to my insurance, there's no dollar limit.

my dad got his at Miracle ear, $8000 and have been a pain in the azz, I can't count how many time we have been back there for problems, some of dads making but mostly product issues. I would not recommend!

I would buy the on-line $65.00 bucks or in that neighborhood.

I've had the prescription hearing aids and they weren't any better than the ones you can buy on-line.l

I have had mine for six years. Resound Lynx Quatro is the brand and model. When you first get them you will think miracles are happening. They will start you off on low volume until your brain gets used to all the noise you have not heard in a while and gradually increase the volume over a couple weeks. It's all done automatically through your phone. After owning them for your first six months the miracle part faded for me and the realization I still cannot hear that well set in.....but, I wear them 100% of the time I am away from home.

I am getting mine replaced Wednesday because I have lifetime health on my ears from a work injury. Mine are also outdated and I need better tone control. Mine work great everywhere except at home. For some reason my house is loud and the hearing aides just wail in my ears. I have to turn them off. I found out last week that my settings were way off and they tried to get them better but could not.

If it wasn't for needing to hear speech and understanding what is said I would prefer not to hear all the things I cannot hear naturally anymore. Birds are annoying, frogs and crickets..nobody needs to hear that, every crinkle of paper, every hum of a machine, footsteps in the leaves....all crap I can live without

What I can tell you is do not fudge on your hearing exams. If you hear the tone in the slightest acknowledge it and if you don't you don't.
I had a hearing test where my ears were plugged and ringing louder than normal for some reason and I could not hear tones I used to hear. They set my hearing aids to those new tests and the next day they were on blast. I got a new hearing test and things were back to my normal deafness. The Dr explained to me some people will intentionally not hear the low tones in order to make themselves appear more hard of hearing thinking it's okay. yeah, don't do that.

I'm hard of hearing in only a small window of tones...it makes it hard to set up cheaper aids without blasting everything. My hope is the new aids will be better than the last set. Loud noises hurt me ears, and I can hear I just cannot understand what I am hearing. Last night a rooster crowing in the distance sounded like tires screeching on pavement.

One cool feature is they can set the aids to block a lot of the outside noise when you are taking a phone call through your aids, bluetooth, from the phone. For years I struggled with hearing the cell phone when driving in a loud vehicle. My last Dr set them up to kill 12db from the outside noise and now when I am on the phone it seems as if everything goes quiet while I am on the phone. When I hang up the volume slowly comes back up.

My first pair cost high $3000. Not sure as to today's cost for the new one's as I don't pay the bill for them, the state buys them from my injury dealing with the no-speaks for two decades. I also had the first pair break and one needed full replacement and a year later they both needed full replacement.

Many years ago I bought some over the counter hearing aids. They worked great. I gave them to somebody that needed them and never replaced them.

Many years later the VA said come up and get some hearing aids. I finally did and I am to receive them next month. Hope they work as well as the 29-dollar ones. The VA said I am receiving the 7-thousand dollar ones.
What a rip!

Depending on the level of hearing loss, there are some good ones that you can buy without a prescription. They've come a long way and are much more affordable than before.

But... that won't help you past a certain point where you have to see an audiologist and get a proper hearing aid that is tuned to your needs. Again, the technology has come a long way and there are some pretty amazing things that can be done with hearing aids. I'd recommend finding an audiologist that deals with musicians as I think they're a bit more tuned in to making things sound natural, if possible.

I just got my new set of hearing aids. Oticon Intent 1. Much different than my Resounds. These new one's take the harsh tin can sound out. I think I am going to like these much better. I'm just glad insurance picked up the $5200 cost. These are supposed to be a smart aid that adjusts to noisy environments better. So far the one big improvement for me is I can wear them in the house where I couldn't with the old one's. My house is very loud and these make it tolerable over the other one's.

The specialist tuned them for taking phone calls in the truck where it cuts out 90% of outside noise so I can hear the phone when driving truck or a piece of equipment. I call also answer the phone by just tapping one hearing aid. I no longer have to answer it by touching the phone. That will be a big plus when driving.

I've worn hearing aids most of my life. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a cheap hearing aid that works properly, in my experience. I keep waiting for the tech to even out the cost, but it never happens. I've had really cheap hearing aids, and really expensive ones....the cheap ones were awful.

The additional sound from normal life helped me by reducing the perception of the tinnitus and over time I stopped hearing it as much. When I charge my set overnight, it's like I suddenly stuck my head underwater- my hearing loss and tinnitus return.

Also- set them up correctly to your phone and discover audio books, podcasts, music through your day without anyone knowing or hearing. I listen 6hrs or more a day now of various things while I work.

When I was at the job I retired from I would often play music through my hearing aids from my phone. One day a co-worker was going nuts trying to figure out where the sound of music was coming from. It took me a while to figure out he was hearing my music. He was very young and had great hearing. I acted like he was crazy and told him I heard nothing. When he left the room another co-worker asked me if it was my hearing aids playing and I told him yes. When the other guy came back he said the music was still playing. The other co-worker randomly said, wouldn't it be cool if it was playing Back in Black! I discretely queued it up and when it started playing he figured it out. I took my hearing aid out and let him hear it....he said I was very deaf because it was so loud to him.....welcome to my world.

The only issue I am having with my new aids are the birds.....good lord why are all the birds so dang noisy!!! I don't mind hearing a chirp every now and then but it sounds like I am in an aviary with a thousand birds when I go outside.
