I use something similar that has done well for coho in the bay. I've recently switched to just using bait (not the murdering kind).

Yep. Same here.

In 2024 my company (and my crew) demolished a house that eventually made international news. We did the work on Friday July 5th, which was just another work day for us, but got accused of trying to sneak the demolition thru on the "long holiday weekend".

Started on a reg bike to ebike conversion. Got a donor wrecked e-bike. Can't decide which regular bike to put electric stuff on though. Probably will be designated ride-to-target bike is kinda what I'm thinking.

So I re-watched The Gunfighter a short film by Eric Kissack.
Not safe for work....but damn funny nevertheless.

Retired guys? Just another day?

Most days are all the same. I often don't know what day of the week it is without looking at my watch or asking.

Major holidays are for staying home, for me. Because I don't want to get into Memorial Day crowds, Labor Day migrations, Thanksgiving or Christmas insane travel situations.

I'm fine with Dr. King having his day. I realize the establishment of a holiday for him was politically motivated. Down in California, there is a state holiday (with time off for state and local gov't workers) named for Cesar Chavez. So there is another example of a political holiday. I supposed Labor Day was also politically motivated when established.

I'm old enough to remember that Dr. King was a figure of controversy in his time. He was accused of being a Communist by some people on the right wing. Yet, George Washington, Father of Our Country, was controversial during his presidency. President Lincoln has a holiday observed on his birthday in many states but it isn't a federal holiday. Instead, Washington and Lincoln's birthdays were combined into President's Day. But, President Lincoln was absolutely controversial in his time, hated by a sizable chunk of the population.

One thing I think about that is different now from the past. That is, most stores are open now on holidays. And weekends. When I was a kid, a lot of businesses closed up on holidays and weekends. Some were open Saturday mornings, but closed at noon for the rest of the weekend.
