Last year I stayed at a hotel in oak harbor for a week. While I was there I bought a Remington 760 30-06 and a Remington model 33, and a maverick 88 12 gauge security I brought with me.I stood them up in the open clothes closet and never heard a peep.

In my many years in the RV biz I found more than a few guns left in them.

Most were discovered by techs or maintenance staff and they let me know about them and I would clear them, secure them in my office and call the owners.

Gideons blam blam!
While staying at a Motel or Hotel.......I haven't seen one.......in a long time.

Maybe, it's just that I stay at mostly cheap places or maybe, it's about management not wanting to make some guests uncomfortable?

Whatever. I figure this.....

And/or one of his children would be most appropriate. Considering that you're in a Motel or Hotel room traveling in some strange City.

Oops... I may have had myself a new pistol had I found it in a drawer in my room.... 😁😁
The problem with finding guns like that, is you don't know who had it before you, what they used it for, whether it was stolen or whether the person who lost it would report it as stolen.

If found in your possession, then the old excuse of "that's not my gun, I found it" would not sound so good in court.

Strip it for parts? :D

j/k, I'd let the hotel worry about it.

They dont even do daily turn downs and clean up in rooms any more . No one wants to work . The unemployment rate is low not because jobs are filled. Theyre not. People just arent looking.
Unemployment paying more than work does a lot of times. My son got out of the Army, I asked why he wasn't looking for a Job, he said "Dad Mcdonald's Pays $5.50 an hour unemployment pay a little more than $8 an hour, which paycheck makes sense to you" I should have boxed his ears, but I did the math

That was in the early '90's

I was on the road and found myself locked out of my room. I went to the front desk, they asked me to wait a few minutes until the police arrived to escort me to my room and escort me and my firearm out of the building.

The problem I had was my pistol was buried deep in my luggage so they had to have been rooting around to find it. They did point out a smallish sign that was unreadable from my side of the desk stating this policy.

I did manage to get the last laugh, I brought up this topic with a friend, he in turn changed his hotel reservation to where I had problems. He also got locked out and when the cops arrived it became a game of show and tell, badges being flashed everywhere. Suddenly their policy no longer applied to him or his friends.
I assume he was a LEO?

Nah, I'd just tell them that the Gunions left it in the drawer below the one with the Bible in it.

The first thing I do in any hotel is hang the "Do Not Disturb" on the door and it stays there for the duration. Not that this is a guarantee that somebody won't come in...but it's a start. If I need something, I'll go hunt somebody down.

You're also crazy if you leave anything of value in the room safes. Most of them are pretty easy to hack into.

Why leave it in a safe if you can just leave it in a drawer?

Hell, ne'er do wells are probably all at home playing X Box and cashing the government's checks too!
