Staying at a hotel for a few days. I was talking to the desk clerk and she said they just had a lady call someone up to her room because the previous guest left his pistol in the drawer of the dresser. She was happy her kids that were staying with her didnt find it. Uh, yeah.

So they called the guy and he tired to play it off. "The gun isnt registered to me. Its registered to my father in law" . Like that matters to anyone and we dont have gun registration here.

I told her I'd call the cops and get them down here .

Tells you how thorough the cleaning crew is.
So true! I've gotten to the point where I remove all the sheets when leaving a hotel room. At least the next person might have a better chance at clean sheets.

I found an unopened can of Copenhagen a couple weeks ago at my last hotel stay. Not nearly as cool.

:D

I was on the road and found myself locked out of my room. I went to the front desk, they asked me to wait a few minutes until the police arrived to escort me to my room and escort me and my firearm out of the building.

The problem I had was my pistol was buried deep in my luggage so they had to have been rooting around to find it. They did point out a smallish sign that was unreadable from my side of the desk stating this policy.

I did manage to get the last laugh, I brought up this topic with a friend, he in turn changed his hotel reservation to where I had problems. He also got locked out and when the cops arrived it became a game of show and tell, badges being flashed everywhere. Suddenly their policy no longer applied to him or his friends.

I stayed at a Motel 6 ONCE. A long time ago. I was on a road trip and needed some sleep so I pulled over in Ogden and figured it can't be that bad.

Hah! When I got into the room, I pulled back the sheets to get ready for bed and there was VOMIT that had soaked through the sheets and into the comforter. Like they just put sheets right over the top of a monster pile of puke.

Needless to say, I slept in my truck.

I stay in hotels an average of 20 weeks a year. My firearm goes everywhere with me. I never leave it in the room. Hotel staff will always dig through your gear. I had a white towel in my suitcase and they took it once. I went to the front counter and asked for my towel back. I also told the staff that going into my suitcase was wrong and I never used that hotel again. I eventually got my towel and ever since that trip I never allow anyone in my room during my stay. The only time I have allowed anyone in my room was three years ago in Henderson. They did room checks after the big shooting in Vegas.

I'd have been quite embarrassed if I'd done that. And I'd certainly be on my way to pick it back up. More then likely the expense of going to retrieve it would be less than replacing it and would certainly involve less paperwork/knocks on doors/lawyers

I was at Disneyland one time and found a canon in the toilet; the only problem is that it only shot out overly aggressive women shouting feminist jargon. :D

Why put it in a drawer?

For me......
if/when traveling with a handgun.....
and then, especially when staying in a Motel (or Hotel) in a distant far off place (or say strange/different City). It's in the open, next to the bed, where I can reach it. Easily.

Yeah.....am I suppose to trust things......if/when things go bump in the night?

Aloha, Mark
