Finally cut them off.

3-4 fraudulent sellers in a month.

Almost never get anything in 2 days anymore.

Last 4 deliveries have been after 9pm!

Shipping almost always added to price of item, so no real deals going on anymore.

Most items on there are knock offs from China.

I just see any value in giving them money anymore.

Good for you.

I've always been a buy local with cash guy. I go to the vendor's location, tell them what I need, and pay them in cash. They all know I'm very pro "made in America" and if they hand over anything other than that, there had better be a really good reason. I don't trust banks any further than i could pitch one, and I'm damned sure not gonna be putting my hard earned money in the pocket of socialist/communist unless there is absolutely no way around it.

I have been trying REALLY hard for quite a while now. I have to say its an active sacrifice for me. Often it means waiting a week for something that would take a day or two. The speed of service is what had me hooked on them. That and that they seemed to literally sell everything known to man :D It just got to be habit to look at Amazon first for everything I needed.
Now I have always avoided using their "'3d party" stuff. Few times they did cause a problem although Amazon was fast at fixing it for us after one time doing a charge back. After that if there was a problem they just fixed it fast. As for China? There seems to be almost nothing left any more not made there no matter who I buy it from. I did pay for a year of the Wally version of Prime. Not really sure how much better Wally is but, they so far have resisted the "woke" cancel people so I keep buying from them. I often get stuff the same day now from Wally. When I go to order if in a hurry all I need to do is see if the item is available to pick up at the one by me. If it is they almost always send it same day by Door-Dash.
So now instead of Amazon being the first place I look, its the last place. Jeff still has that going for him. He often seems to be the only one I can easily find that has what I am looking for. So he still gets a lot of my money but, at least he is the last place I look now. Not that it probably matters to the man who has more money than god but, makes me feel a little better :D

I should have said known brand (still made in China) vs knock of Chinese version. You go on there looking for a specific brand, they will sell you and ship you a fake.

now THAT would cause me to do a prompt return. I have over the years started to see a TON of stuff that is easy to see a clone of some "name brand" item. Both from China of course but, if I pay for the one with the known name and they sent me some clone? It would go back. So far that is one other thing Jeff did right. If there is a problem with anything I have ever bought that was not my fault, returns are never easier. I don't even have to box the stuff back up any more. I can take the item to a "Pack N Ship" and just show them a code on my phone, they take the item and my account gets the money back. So if anyone gets something they "pulled a fast one" on just send it back. They get enough stuff back they will tighten up on that.

My wife is addicted, I need an intervention. I watch the cards on line and so far it's reasonable, but it's like dope.
You need more and more to be satisfied. And yeah, overall, it's cheaper, probably cheaper item for item. But you're
buying sh!t you dont need. OK, I love the hell outta her but this is still stupid. I believe in local buying and support.
I could make this a long one, think it's time I ended my rant.

I would say that Amazon does get a fair bit of business, but it is not an exclusive one. I prefer buying things online, especially things that are not size dependent (e.g. pants and jackets) or heavy and difficult to transport myself (e.g. large TV). It is pretty easy to do a price comparison between Amazon, Wayfair and other online stores and select the one with the best price.

I use only well know online stores though, or online stores from known retailers (e.g. Costco).

Buying things in retail locations can have unexpected bonus though. I recently went to my local Lowes to buy a chainsaw, I wanted the 14 inch EGO chainsaw (I'm invested in this line of tools) and the way they have set it up is that you bring a ticket from the aisle to the cashier, pay for it and someone will bring the product to you. I did just that but there was an issue, they could not find the 14 inch chainsaw even thought their computer says they have them in stock and I've already paid. I waited for a while and finally, the Lowes associate gave me a 18 inch version at the same price. Score! That's a heck of bonus for buying local. :D

I've gone several months now without buying anything from them. I need to offload all of my Kindle content before I ditch them completely but I can see it happening. There are alternative sources for everything if you know how to look. I haven't watched videos there since they started putting advertisements in them, which is years now.

EDIT: "I haven't watched", not "I watched".

Last thing I bought on Amazon was a present for my brand new nephew through a promotion or some such where it automatically ships it to whomever was the benefactor of the account. Since I didn't know the address anyway, it was easy enough. Other than that, I almost exclusively buy hunting/shooting related things and Amazon doesn't seem to care to stock that stuff so they don't get my business by default. I had always assumed they were fast at shipping with reasonably priced quality products. Too bad to hear that's going downhill

Wilsonville is ground zero for caravans of these Amazon delivery rigs. It is common to see 10 of them one behind another here. Evidently they are using vacant areas around town for their employees to park and hop in their vans because they don't have room to park them at the fulfillment centers. It's creepy if you ask me.

A neighbor down by my cabin was loving amazon in the early days of Prime as packages would be delivered to their home. Now Amazon passes them all off to USPS so the neighbor has to drive into town to retrieve packages from post office.

I just bought 2 knives for $38 in the last 25 years so I know exactly how you feel.

On the vendor side, Amazon squeezes them dry.
It is no different than dealing with a big box store, Walmart or Costco for example, will also squeeze the manufacturer for margins. Some electronics manufacturer even have special SKUs for big box retailers that appears only on certain occasions such as Black Friday where they make specially stripped down versions of their products for big sales events.

It's not just electronics nor just once a year anymore.

I never bought any item from Amazon.

My husband never bought any item from Amazon.

We will NEVER buy any item from Amazon.

To each their own.

Ah LOVE at first write.. :)
I wish i could say the same but i salute you! Its been probably a year since i ordered anything from them.
They have so many of thier vehicles on the road i think they should get extra road use tax. I think we the people are getting screwed!
Plus they hardly pay much in taxes.
Our cities seem to lean on the knee pads to get them to stay. Seattle especially. (Boeing $0.10/gal. gas tax *cough*)

I kinda Wish Elon would open a amazon competitor.
He could just launch starship warehouses all over the world in orbit and dispense the product down when ordered.
Hes much more aligned with our vision. (for the most part)
