To be honest I have never been a big Jeep fan. I owned a 44 Ford MB for a few years. There just wasn't enough leg room for all 6'3" of me. A couple of "wheeling" buddies talked me into the MB but it was pretty painful after about 4 hours behind the wheel on the logging roads around Eugene. I bought a Scout II to pull the jeep to the trail head and shortly after decided the heck with the jeep. I will say that my flat head inline 4 jeep would go darn near anywhere... a lot of places heavier rigs (like the Scout II) just wouldn't. It could just about float over obstacles that heavier rigs have to crash through.

I found out the hard way that the MB only had 1 hydraulic circuit for brakes. It you puncture a brake line anywhere all 4 breaks are dead. Had some grey haired lady pass my buddy on the road behind me then run me and my MB off the road because she didn't see me. There isn't much crash protection in those old jeeps.

A couple of years ago I drove my BIL's 2008 Jeep... it still didn't have near enough leg room for me to drive comfortably.
