I like many here have acquired multiple firearms. Over several builds I have two that stand out over the others and due to the sum of their parts just hit the right balance. Even though the others are very similar.

One is a mostly Brownells 14.5 built from scratch and the other is a PSA pistol kit. I have two other name brand complete rifles and other kit builds, but those two by lucky planning or sheer luck got the balance right.

Compared to Mil-Spec? I'm glad you're happy with your builds. I'm more into traditional aesthetics for firearms, ie. wood and metal. I own modern polymer firearms but they're not notable.

Balance in what…weight distribution? …wallet impact? ….what?
Balance as in the best blend of performance compared to other options. In one case, the Brownells rifle only has a 3x fixed scope, and updated trigger and heavier buffer. The compromise of better accessories on other rifles don't make me gravitate towards them. It also " feels" better and is accurate enough for practical use, even though it's not the most accurate in my collection.

Some of my favorite guns are front heavy due to gas system. Short stroke or long stroke they are front heavy. A beautifully balanced and relatively light SxS or over and under shotgun is nice. Some long barrel pistols can be front heavy but still nice to shoot. So balance is a factor but pretty minor for me probably.
