Would you happen to know if this will work for a railed 1911?
I was wondering also, if then end is "open", so that it might accommodate a threaded barrel.

Sorry a railed 1911 wont work. Only standard mil spec style 1911's. But the end is open yes. It does fit commander size 1911's though.
