Hey now! Northern CA is nice enough. About the same as southern OR. Middle to south CA I'll agree with

Half my family is in Texas and I can't imagine ever going back down there...

LOL, actually, we go into NorCal all the time for recreation. My husband calls it "Poaching the King's Forests". But SoCal is a totally different bird.

Yeah Fort Hood, it wasn't terribly bad. It was pretty much in the middle of all the major cities

Welcome! I like it in Salem, been here a year (from Mass) and am hoping to move just once more. I'm thinking property on the outskirts in 3-5 years. Not sure where yet though.
