FN has brought back the High Power. They must have seen the favorable reception that the Springfield Armory SA-35 received. They did away with the magazine disconnect. Comes in stainless, black and FDE. Has a 17 round magazine. Also almost twice the price as the Springfield.

They were released within six weeks of each other, so they were in the pipeline a while simultaneously. FN moved production from Portugal to SC so that was (maybe?) part of the downtime and re-design.

SA went with perfecting a classic MKII HP with all subtle common changes included. FN went for a more tacti-cool flash gun at a much higher sales point. I don't think they are going to compete head-to-head. I think the SA-35 will steal from 1911 sales - I know it did in my case.

Ooooof.
....

No more fde please.
Yeah that's nasty, same reaction here.

I'd prefer the SA rear sight be sloped like a conventional Novak vs. the tac rack, as it would be more attractive. The tac rack is really uneccesary with the captured front recoil spring - actually better to do it that way. But the U-notch is effective and not worth changing it IMO. It's a standard novak cut according to SA so easy to swap if desired.

Built in toenail clipper and bottle opener.
Did someone say "bottle opener?" Because I have an app for that:
