HB 4145, Kate Brown's gun confiscation bill, was scheduled to be voted on today in the Oregon House.

However the bill has been pushed back to tomorrow's floor session.

While this is potentially bad news since it's possible they delayed it to have time to make it worse, it does give us at least one more day to voice our opposition to this dangerous legislation.

We told you about the dangers of this bill in a previous alert.

Today in the Senate Judiciary Committee, SJM 202 was passed on a party line vote. We told you about this pointless but expensive attack on gun rights here. It was sent to the Rules Committee in an apparent procedural move to prevent Republicans from offering substitute language. We still urge you to voice your opposition to it. I strongly oppose this legislation because it won't stop a single tragedy while at the same time allows the confiscation of a Constitutionally guaranteed RIGHT without a conviction or even due process.

It is claimed that there is a check and balance in that a Judge would have to authorize the confiscation, but we all know that no Judge will rule against a claimant - to do so would open them to liability in the event it was wrong.

The claimant doesn't even have to prove an intimate relationship - all they have to do is say they did.

This law is unfair, unconstitutional, and won't make anybody safer. What it does accomplish is taking several more steps towards turning Citizens into Subjects.​

HB 4145, Kate Brown's gun confiscation bill, passed the Oregon House today on a 37 to 23 vote.

The bill got the vote of every House Democrat except Caddy McKewon, who has supported previous gun confiscation bills. She must be reading her mail.

Republican Andy Olson, who voted for the bill in committee, listened to his constituents and voted NO on the floor. If you live in Olson's district you may want to let him know you approve of his change of position.

Three Republicans joined the Democrats and voted yes on this dangerous and pointless attack on your rights. They were Richard Vial, Julie Parrish and Knute Buehler.

As you know, Buehler is running for governor against Kate Brown, although based on his vote today, it's difficult to understand why. We already have one leftist anti-gun candidate. Seems like no reason for two.

As you might expect, the floor debate included a lot of opportunistic tears and disgraceful exploitation of the horrific murders in Florida yesterday. The fact that this legislation had absolutely nothing to do with crimes of this kind didn't matter. Never let a catastrophe go to waste.

Democrat Jeff Barker, one of the co-carriers of the bill, once again recounted a story of a domestic violence crime scene he responded to as a police officer. It really was a terrible and tragic story. And nothing in this bill would have changed the outcome of that crime in any way.

Democrat Jeneen Sollman tearfully recounted growing up with an abusive, alcoholic father who chased her and her mother out of the house tossing ice chests at them. A story we would all agree is heartbreaking, but once again, unless her parents were living together after the issuance of a restraining order (which is not legal) a story that had absolutely zero relevance to this bill.

The bill now moves over to the Senate. We have no intention of letting up the pressure to stop this attack on the safety of women and the rights of gun owners.

The sad and ignored fact is that there is not a single word in this bill that would make a victim of domestic violence any safer. There is not a single word to protect the rights of the falsely accused. It is nothing more than another blow against freedom and common sense.

I didn't even know this was going on here in Oregon until I read this post.... it's buckshot how they can do things in secret with out having to notify every citizen if they take gun rights away do United States will essentially become a large Afghanistan a large Iraq where it's a 20-plus year war they kill a family member it pisses off another family member which makes them take arms against the people that are trying to take the guns it will essentially be another Afghanistan and that's what people don't understand they think that people are just going to give away their guns and it's not going to happen it will be 1776 all over again but on a massive scale

In some ways I wish America would have another revolution that would put fear in the minds of those who keep trying to steer her towards European socialism, but it wouldn't likely have a good result in our time, while America is surrounded within a few minutes missile time by our enemies who want the wealth God blessed us with, I think someone might take advantage of such wide spread instability.

The best solution is to make sure we vote for "The better of two choices" as far as the Constitution is effected by them, so that future Supreme court judges will not be chosen by someone like hillary or obama. When we meet like minded people who say "Oh, I never vote" we should try to reason with them, asking them to reconsider.
People complain about having to vote for the lesser of two evils, but the error in that is that all people make mistakes, there are no perfect candidates, and by the way, one candidate will be voted into office, warts and all! Not voting is passing up on the only chance we get to legally effect our government. Plus I don't hear many libs saying that, just so called conservatives.

I personally believe the end of the age is fast approaching and that whatever happens the Creator is in control, my only job is to live a life that Glorifies Him, and whether times are evil or good they are only temporary, so there is no sense getting overwrought.
So, we do the best we can with what we have, and when allowed to effect the world around us we do so by actions and words that are commendable to those of good will.
In other words, a quiet but persistent pressure towards the Constitution being reinstated as daily law in America.

I'm really trying to be respectful, but how in the world can you NOT know what's going on? OFF sends alerts as does GOA and many Republican congressmen and women send out newsletters and alerts about specific legislation.
