A while back I saw this for sale at Black Sheep in CdA. I was curious about it so I asked Google what the FPS was. It came back 1200 FPS. Not exactly great 10 mm but it seemed that it would be decent for the price for the range.

This morning I wake up and see one of my favorite gun tubers has a video on this. Here's a link for your enjoyment and pleasure. My suspicion appears to have been well founded regarding the quality of this.

The few brands Ive chronoed in any pistol cartridge has never ran as fast as advertised. Most 10mm target loads are slow for the caliber, the velocities he got seem pretty standard for 10mm target loads.

I enjoy shooting 180 grain at 1200. Don't know or care where it's at power wise.

I gave up caring about 10mm "power" in target loads a long time ago, I find that the watered down 10mm target loads are still stronger than 9mm or 45, if I recall there was some Remington UMC rounds that kicked more and actually left craters in my steel gong, not that it matters for target practice. The typical 180gn FMJ running around 1100fps average is more likely what we get (no surprise at all in the video) and packs a punch in its own merit.

Well there's always something that's better than normal, that's how you get normal. If you're going to buy 10 mm, and shoot 10 mm, it should be the standard 10 mm load. I do believe Colonel Cooper had it right. Besides, what's the point in shooting week 10 mm for practice? Don't you want to do the same thing and practice that you're trying to do in real life?

I feel that Magtech is the best value range ammo. Sig is good stuff, but there is usually a higher cost to the Sig. My friend and I just left the gun show in Post Falls where we bought some mag Tech 180 FMJ for $20.50 a box.

One of the reasons 10mm is popular is because its so versatile, and can be loaded to 40S&W levels.... because its been well documented more power doesn't mean more "stopping power" for human self defense.

One of my favorite off the shelf 10mm general blasting loads is Sig 180gr ball. I get 1250fps though a GP100, G29 and M&P. I haven't chrono'd it though anything else. It also shoots clean and is accurate.

I buy several boxes when it shows up on their blemished sale.

The Sig is good ammo to be sure. I don't know that I put it in what I would call the range ammo category because of its price. I find that I can buy Magtech which is doing almost the same FPS as the Sig, for $22 a box landed. Went to the gun show last weekend me and my buddy bought some for $21.

What power level are you looking for? Fiocchi 10mm 180g is listed at 1250 fps. Not sure how the prices are on those though.

10mm is expensive to the point where reloading is very rewarding. I have loaded the same 180 grain projectile at 1200fps up to 1375fps and all over in between.

Just looking for "real" 10MM that's range cost level. If I want Dangerous Game stuff, I have Underwood.
I know for reloading components like primers have started coming down in price. But it's almost still a push. If you were anywhere near Sandpoint I got pounds and pounds of 10 mm brass to give you. Been saving it up but haven't had a chance to get the components yet.

"Real 10mm" ammo only lives in the premium or self defense loads. I doubt you'll find any fmj loaded to "real" velocities at practice ammo prices.

If I recall "real" 10mm ammo is 180gn at 1300fps or 200gn at 1200fps.

Some 10mm history is several years ago when 10mm was beginning its "revival " many of the boutique ammo makers strived to produce the hottest round, but mass production couldnt keep consistent and customers guns blew up. This is what made people think they needed "full case support" when they dont. Since then even the boutique ammo backed off a bit.

Well I guess my post wasn't quite clear enough. I'm aware of what 10 mm is supposed to be. I got my first 10 mm in the early '80s. And have been rocking it ever since.

My point was that, for ammo to be used on the range, at velocities that are close to what the Sammy spec is, and still be affordable, this stuff does the job.
