BTW, the original movie (John Wayne version) was remarkably faithful to the book. The great majority of the dialogue in the screenplay came straight from the book. Most unusual for a book-to-movie adaptation.

Zombie Crockett, or somehow survived the Alamo?

Pre-Alamo Crockett...
In real life Crockett wrote an auto-biography...Poe who was a critic for a Baltimore newspaper panned it...

So in this novel , Crockett goes to meet Poe and give him what for....they end up working together trying to solve a series of murders..

None. My Dad loved all the Zane Grey novels tho.

I just bought a ROKU and noticed they have a Westerns channel with old Lone Ranger, John Wayne, Rex Whathis, and Roy Rogers. My wife will like it for sure! I'm more into the modern Western productions like Silverado.
