It has been floating just under and at the 100° zone in these parts for a while. I love hot weather, though that is getting up there. Can't wait to relocate to where the sun is more common.

According to my AI swami

AI swami.jpg

Portland, Oregon experiences temperatures over 90°F about 7–10% of the year, depending on the specific year and weather patterns.

Here's how that breaks down:

  • 📅 In recent hot years like 2018, Portland had 31 days over 90°F, which is roughly 8.5% of the year.
  • 🔥 In 2024, there were 28 days over 90°F—about 7.7% of the year.
  • 📉 Cooler years like 2020 saw only 15 days, or around 4.1% of the year.
Bottom line...

We are getting some "summer weather" here now too. As always happens when we finally do a LOT of people act like this has never happened before and start trying to get panic going. VERY soon it will be over and back to the cold and rain.

We're just about halfway through Summer in my experience, with August typically being the hottest month with the warmest lake waters; but also nights will get colder from end of July to Labor Weekend... Based on what I remember about prior summers

Been here on and off since the 50's. The "norm" seems to be you can count on August and September being mostly nice. Some times we get more but can't count on it. Days like today where its close too or over 90 not too many. Every time it happens in the last 30 or so years we of course hear all the panic. As if its never happened before. I will not be planting any cactus. :s0140:

O'er here we hadn't even been hitting 90*F…
