Double Newbie

I'm a new member of the Forum, and also a first-time gun owner. I have purchased a Taurus Tracker 627 (.357/.38) primarily for self-defense when hiking in remote areas. Obviously the gun will also be useful for self-defense when at home. I'm registered for a hand gun safety course and will likely apply for a concealed carry permit from my own State of Oregon but also another state or two in order to make it a bit easier to travel in my RV and take the gun with me.

I am a semi-retired graduate level educator now doing most of my teaching online which gives me freedom to travel.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot from others in the Forum.
