I never shot the DE 50AE. However in California only the DE .44 magnum is on the approved list. I have big hands and bought one. I like it. Shooting 9 .44 magnum full house loads as though they were .44 specials I find fun. I liked it so much I bought the .357 magnum bolt/barrel kit plus a 10" barrel. 11 .357 magnum full house loads with the recoil of a .38 Special I also find a kick. I find the real use to be as my field gun. With the 10" barrel I can set up for Coyote and I find it a lot easier to carry than a rifle. >357 magnum with the 10" barrel for hunting and the .44 magnum with 6" barrel for a night stand gun. Floats my boat.
