I agree that California is an economic nightmare. Folks shouldn't be too smug about it. Oregon and Washington are only a few very short steps away from the same economic cliff. Doesn't anyone wonder why the politicians in California (OR & WA, too) continue to spend far more than they can afford? They know they can pay the bills with IOU's payable by the US government through a "Too-Big-To-Fail" Bailout. We are all going to get stuck with the tab.

Try to imagine how much one of your "worthless cousins" would run up on a credit card if it had an unlimited balance and the bill was guaranteed by your bank account....

Reason I posted the way I did was the old saying that "as California goes so goes the nation". While Oregons constitution protects gun owners the last vote for higher taxes should tell you the california socialist are here. Look at their laws and understand the same socialist thinking has moved across the border to Oregon. We allready have people who vote for more taxation which is very foolish and is sinking California. Look at the stupidity of the gun laws and realize it is comming here.

My sons in CA stationed there in the US NAVY. His reloading equipment is in my Toy Closet in Oregon he will not have a problem finding .45ACP or .30-06 he already has 600 empty 45 cases and between us I think I have close to 1000 -06 cases.

His first big shipment is being cranked out as I type this. LOL

Yep but the right to keep and bear arms shouldn't be infringed as it is by this law. Nor should peoples right to buy and sell. Socialism is like this and people should resist voting for socialist.

@ejmpnu92 I MIGHT be biased as a native Oregonian, but one of the problems Oregon has been experiencing over the past twenty years is the uncontrolled influx of Californians up here who say they hate it....then try their hardest to make Oregon just like that festering swamp of craziness to the south. You can see it reflected in the politics and wide spread development that has wrecked our way of life. Nice to hear there are a few levelheaded refugees from there who might help us stop the slide downward....

You want to be careful using terms like this as it is radically misleading. The bailout authorized 800 billion, a little over half was paid out and 90% has been paid back. The balance will be paid back and we might even see a profit from the GM stock. Of course the Dems will take credit, but the plan was from the Bush Administration.

Then again, maybe not: U.S. Unlikely To Recoup GM Bailout, Panel Says

The Wall Street Journal said:
The U.S. government is unlikely to recover its entire $50 billion investment in General Motors Co., in part because the Obama administration unloaded a big block of shares in the company's initial public offering at $33 a share rather than wait for a higher price, a federal panel said Wednesday...

Barry's admin should get all the credit for yet another blunder.

I more than understand. Believe me I truly do. I felt the same way, growing up in CA and seeing the state go in that direction, for many different reasons. Many of the problems that Ca has (not all, so not really trying to generalize here) occurred from people moving into the state and wanting it to be exactly like where they came from. I will say this up front, I don't want Oregon to be anything like CA. I moved here because of a job. I am a resident now, granted not a native. I have only been here just under 2 months and I already feel more at home here than I have any where else. When my grandparents moved here from Denmark, my grandma would only allow Danish spoken at home, but insisted that she and everyone else learn English. In that tradition, I am a Californian at heart but the rest of me will assimilate.

and in the socialist global view - which has permeated the halls of Congress for years - as goes Europe so goes the United States. Simply look over there to see what will come over here. It's just a matter of time. You have to have a special hard to get hunting permit in some parts of europe to even own a rifle. Handgun - forget it.

I just opened the Ammoman Update email and they say no orders will beshipped to CA after Janiary 21st. Where is the logic in replacing a respectable buissness with a potetially unscrupulous one?

Yep, I received the same email and thought the EXACT same thing. That's why there is a LAW of unintended consequences and not just a "theory". :s0054:

I don't like to get too far out in senarios but some guy runs ammo to CA and gets caught, they find out he bought it legally in OR or NV isn't that going to put pressure to over regulate legitimate buisnesses in our respective states?

While I doubt it, I do foresee something different. Maybe the Fed gov feels the push to restrict ammo movement over state lines. Then it could become a Federal crime. Just a thought. Also, then the state (any state, not any one in particular) would not have to spend the money trying to prosecute the crime.

It is not about controlling ammo sales as much as it is about $$$$$$. CA wants to collect the sales tax. Just like the laws passed to prohibit Internet cigarette sales. It is all about the states sales tax not being collected. Ammo sales became big $ after the election and got the money grabbers attention.

no sales tax on shipped ammo from the internet.
but thats not the issue, or they would want people buying lots and lots of ammo in California

LOL I been here 53 years and I can tell you the Boys from down south started moving up here big time starting in about 1964-65 the little country grade school I went to near Silverton jumped 25 kids in those two years. And almost all of them were from California. Granted it has cycled there was also a bunch that showed up in the early 70's and it's been going on ever since.

Not that good people aren't welcomed but please I wish they had left their hobby of trying to run things at home.
