To be totally honest I'm not sure which was more surprising, finding out that they hadn't closed years ago or that Iggy Pop was still alive
Candidly, I never heard of Del-Ton, at least as far as I can recall. I am, however, genuinely surprised Iggy Pop is still alive. :s0112:
Too many other crap companies making crap ARs in a saturated market. Small loss.
Indeed, there is massive market saturation at this point.

I think the saturation point happened when people started going retro, including myself.

I don't know if firearms companies can lobby other governments. With the EU trying to ramp up their war machine who knows what markets may open.

ITAR is the problem. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Traffic_in_Arms_Regulations

Edit. Basically military tech needs the approval and procedures of the US dept of State and military and Congress to be able to be exported out of the US.

Are these the guys who made the Deltonic?
Nah, you can make those yourself at home

Never heard of del-ton that I can recall. Are these the guys who made the Deltonic?
They were founded around 2000 to provide affordable barrel kits and other parts along with uppers before PSA got big. Their main bread and butter product line were their barrels, all 1:9 twist, all with options of A2 or F marked FSB, all having option for chrome lining or not.

Bur seriously, the AR market was glutted. Who can even remember all of the complete rifle makers, let alone aftermarket component companies.
Was going to buy a Del-Ton, but then I realized that I would apparently then become a Tren de Aragua member, so I didn't.

Anyone remember when "milspec" wasn't just a meaningless marketing term? It's way overused for items that have never actually been milspec. The ubiquitous milspec semi auto AR triggers aren't. Milspec lowers aren't. Most milspec uppers aren't. Most milspec buffer tubes aren't. It would be much better if manufacturers would say "fits milspec" or "milspec adjacent" or "milspec compatible" or "exceeds milspec quality". But they won't because many people believe "milspec" is the gold standard rather than the minimum acceptable standard for military use. And people somehow still believe that government quality standards, determined by committee (and bribes, and payoffs, and politics) are the best standards....

Honestly, it'd be awesome to find the following specs;

True Pencil profile, 0.625 gas block diameter, with full size gas block journal; 16" Rifle Length Dissipator barrel with pinned A1/A2 front sight base/tower (not an F marked/F-height one), chrome lined, 1:7 twist, and phosphate coated barrel.

No quality manufacturer in their right mind will ever offer that configuration. If that's what you really want start with a standard 20", send it to someone like Melvin Pitts and have him chop it and enlarge the gas port.

Both Sionics and Criterion offer 16 rifle gas barrels, though I think they are both .750 gas journals. So not too far off.

SIONICS are mid-length on their 16". Criterion is a hybrid profile not pencil and yes are .75 dia gas journals and I'm not sure they still make them. The 18" and 20" can be back ordered but the 16" can not.
I guess the Sionics 16" rifle gas is not longer being made as I can no longer find a vendor. Rainier Arms used to carry them. Rooptop Defense carried the Criterion up until perhaps a month ago. I almost bought one. But now they are off the site.
