Well, it appears that early GWOT aesthetics get to live rent free in my head and I have now succumbed to building retro ARs.

My latest obsession is to attempt to make an M4A1 Block I-IIish build with a front sight post and a quad rail that extends past the FSP. I see that the Daniel Defense (linked below) is an option, but was curious if anyone else knew of a complete upper that didn't cost so many bills. I recognize I could source the parts and build it piece by piece, but I am all ears for an alternative to the Daniel Defense that is already complete if the pricing is more competitive.

Thanks in advance.

DD is your best bet to keep the upper "clone-ish", but if it's just the aesthetics your after then take a look at Centurion Arms. They build great rifles for a solid price.

Brownell's will occasionally sell stripped M4A1 uppers for less than $700. And, unusually, they're the only way to get the proper SOCOM barrel with flats. If you order a complete M4A1 upper it will come with a government profile barrel.

Yea I figured the DD may be the best "true" option

If any of you are looking I've got a DD M4 FSP rail for sale.
$325 shipped
