Interesting, l made a 10 cavity v-block out of walnut and l trim them to a rough length first,(on a mill) then l anneal, then resize, trim to final length then do the usual case prep.

Nice to hear about other methods of doing it. I was planning on annealing the converted brass after the first firing, but now I might anneal after the rough cut with jig.
