colt ar6721

I just picked up a colt ar6721. This is the first ar I have owned. I have a quick question, the lower receiver is marked .223 , but the barrel is stamped 5.56. So do I go with what's on the barrel, or the lower?

5.56 NATO is Fine in that one. The barrel marking is what the chambering is. And everything I can find on the rifle says that it is a 1:9 twist that is chambered in 5.56.

Write down the serial # off the gun, and call Colt, tell them the question and that you have serial number, they will answer all of your questions, their people are friendly and helpful and tell you anything you want to know about a Colt just you supplying them with the Serial #
