I plan on scheduling a class on silencer building Saturday December 17, 2011 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Kitsap Rifle and Revolver Club. I need to do this on a Saturday because I have them off and the 17th because there are no competitions scheduled that day at the range. The only other Saturday is November 17th. Every Sunday is available at the range in November and December, but I will not be available after December 23rd. I will leave it up to you guys. I can schedule additional classes later in 2012 if there is demand for it.
Cost is $20. There is an additional $15 fee for each person to use the range if they are not a KRRC member. The classroom can accommodate up to 20 students, but I prefer to have no more than ten as a large group can have a hard time seeing lathe operation when crowded around it.
The class will cover the following topics;
Applying for a tax stamp.
Avoiding legal trouble when possessing or using a silencer.
Basic silencer design.
How to make parts.
Repairs.
I will bring a few suppressed firearms to the range to use after the class.
The class earlier this year in September lasted about 5 hours. It gets dark before 6pm in December, but the rifle line has lights and we can shoot until 10pm.
There are few caveats to mention. The KRRC is being sued by Kitsap County. I feel that we will prevail, but there is a chance that shooting hours could be curtailed and other restrictions might be imposed if we lose, or the club may be shut down all together.
You can pay in advance via PayPal (send as a gift) or at the class in cash. I will provide refunds to those that cancel, but please make it to the class if you tell me you will. The main investment I make is time and it is an all day thing for me as I have to load up a 600 pound lathe into my pickup for the class.
I am still working on my DVD, but it should be done in a few weeks, I hope.
