Had anyone taken the defensive handgun training from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office PSTC? What did you think about it? I'm looking into taking the series of courses.

The wife took the basic, I think 101 course? 8 hours, 4 hour class room and 4 hours on the range. Bring your own gun or rent a gun. Buy their ammo. If I remember right they're going to make you take that class before you can move on to the more technical classes.

The best training I've taken. Went through 103 and other specialized classes. They make you qualify to move on, for sure.

I don't see ammo prices listed, and could envision the class getting *very* expensive at course level 102 (600 rounds) and 103 (700 rounds) when you MUST buy your ammunition from them.

As I recall the 9mm Wifey used was in the neighborhood of $17.00 a box. That's been maybe seven years ago now. Maybe it's gone down?

That place is cost prohibitive for me... also the ammo is all aluminum, so you'll get plenty of failure to feed drills while shooting there.

Cost per class and ammo:
101 costs $159 plus $72
101a costs $159 plus $126
102 costs $299 plus $216
103 costs $299 plus $252

So, a lot of people think the training there is too expensive. Who offers training locally that is cheaper and/or better?
