Citi group, the fourth-largest bank in the United States, has announced it will no longer do business with clients that do not meet a host of progressive gun control requirements, none of which are mandated by federal law.
In a blog post, Citi group announced:

Under this new policy, we will require new retail sector clients or partners to adhere to these best practices: (1) they don't sell firearms to someone who hasn't passed a background check, (2) they restrict the sale of firearms for individuals under 21 years of age, and (3) they don't sell bump stocks or high-capacity magazines. This policy will apply across the firm, including to small business, commercial and institutional clients, as well as credit card partners, whether co-brand or private label. It doesn't impact the ability of consumers to use their Citi cards at merchants of their choice.

Bans on bump stocks and high-capacity magazines have been a key demand of progressive gun control advocates. But whereas the usual method of activism has been to lobby representatives for change via the democratic process, Citi group is now imposing the change unilaterally — without asking their clients or customers.

Citi promised to "respect the decision" of clients that chose not to follow their guidelines, and "work with them to transition their business away from Citi."

Since Donald Trump took office, corporations have been taking a growing role in public life, as progressive globalists try to use corporate power to advance their agenda. Leftist publications like the New York Times and Vox have gone so far to declare corporations the new "moral voice" of America — a stark contrast to the usual anti-capitalist attitudes of the left.

But some companies are facing a backlash for their attempts to impose progressive values on their customers and clients. Lawmakers in George recently voted to scrap a planned $50 million dollar jet fuel tax exemption for Delta Airlines after the airline company cut ties with the NRA in the wake of the Parkland shooting. Virtue-signalling can be expensive…

we already know the politicians are controlled by corporations. but it seems like the corporations are getting tired of waiting and are going to implement their own rules on us. They build themselves up to big to fail.

Corpocracy?

They control healthcare (corporate provided healthcare coverage, speech (google and facebook internet, the handful of companies that own the media), privacy (google), etc

So, the elite are finally coming out of the woodwork, good, nice to see it for what it truly is:mad:
That a handfull of bankers has the big brass balls to declare defacto law with out president is pretty telling isn't it? Folks, this right here will be the flaming death of America! Our elites have opend the lid on Pandoras box!
Next they will call in all debts to those who refuse to comply, despite no legal support or rule of law, they simply call it in and your screwed! Imagine having a small business loan, or a home loan, or........ and overnight your in default because you no longer qualify! That should scare the hell out of You!:eek::eek:
What a world we live in ain' it, when a Business can dictate terms to governments and more importantly, Citizens!!!
Better unstuck your self from this company and all attached to it, or your going to suffer for it deeply!

and the largest private owner in Citigroup? Abu Dhabi. So we are being controlled by outside the US.

I wonder if NPR will have a multi-year daily reporting on this like they do with Russia and Trump?

Why does anyone need credit cards anyways? I have operated two different welding businesses built from the ground up with out credit cards. Is it tough at the start sometimes? Yes but it can be done and it keeps you from getting in over your head. I have operated this way since 1987. We have no credit cards and no debt other than what's left on the house. Screw Citi group and all the rest of the money changers.

And THAT marble finally bounced didn't it?!?!?,:eek::eek:

Yup, a whole chitload of Russian coulsion, got dug up didn' it!
At the cost of millions of tax payer dollars!
They should be forced to pay that back, but they wouldn't :mad:

So, let' run the tally here, a banking conglomerent is now declaring gun control and will not support the rightful ownership of. Politicos at State and Fed want us disarmed, a few religious leaders want us disarmed, any one smell some thing funny here?

:mad:What a bunch of idiots.
Unless they plan on placing inspectors at every gun shop how will they know that a "cash advance" isn't spent in-store or a cash withdrawal made and what size mag was sold to whom....
... or are they planning to not allow someone under 21 from getting a cash advance or withdraw cash? or not allow someone to buy a magazine for cash? are they planning on detailed reports from retailers.

Sounds like useless PC "Virtue signaling".
o_O If they wanted to actually save lives they wouldn't accept business from drugstores that sell opiates or booze or tobacco to those under 21. Oh wait, that's probably coming.

One guy uses bump stocks in the commission of a crime and the whole world blows up. That idiot could have converted one of his AR's to full auto and just used one reliable gun instead of 10 jam-o-matics. He could have also take the time to aim instead and would have done a lot more damage.

I'll be closing my credit card account with citi bank.

We don't use any CitiGroup financial services, nor own their stock. This horsecrap insures we never will. A big thumbs up to those who presently do, but are dumping them.

Taxpayers bailed them out. And this is the treatment we get?

The Federal Govt needs to step on them. And, I guess that I/maybe we, should also find another bank.

But, I know that there are some here that will say, "It's their business. So, whatever."

Aloha, Mark
