So, I have a snubbie that I wouldn't mind being refinished in a nickle-ish finish. I know Cerakote has been around for a while, but I'm not real familiar with the process. According to the Intratubes, there are a couple applicators in the general area.

Is there any reason availing oneself of this service is a bad idea? How about on a small, pocket revolver? In terms of rust-prevention, is it worthwhile?

Thanks. :)

Cerakote seems to be an OK finish but Personally I'd rather have an Electroless Nickel Plating job done. I KNOW they last forever - at least so Far - 40+ years and counting. I just don't know anyone doing the work right now.

I have seen a few revolvers cerakoted and had one of my revolvers cerakoted. It holds up great on other guns, but on a revolver the cylinder face and gap area wear out pretty quickly with cerakote in my experience.

Thank you both for the feedback. Much appreciated.

@KKG, where have you had your guns Nickel plated? If that is an option, I would prefer that. Thanks much.

I vote cerakote...after the original finish has come off most guns I would prefer to protect them further.....if it was a brand new 4th or 5th gen glock...leave as is

I've seen a few beautifully done cerakote jobs on revolvers, but then I saw this... just horrible! I've seen one of these same revolvers on this forum very well done...but it was a nice dark grey, DW 15s are one of my favorites(I have one) so this is especially appalling to me. further proof that Pre CZ DWs don't get the respect they deserve. If somebody did this to a pre lock SW or Colt there would be a lynching. D98B095B-A86A-4AE7-B284-03A5EAC72F6B-2217-0000039086CEA9FC_tmp.jpg

Man.... and people tell me I have bad taste in color! That is a terrible thing to do to a nice revolver!

maybe a Duck, or Packer fan did it. Either way.. further proves their utter lack of taste.
I might do an AR... or maybe a glock in UW or Seahawk colors, but nothing that was originally blued steel and walnut.

No doubt... being shot by something that "fugly" would just add insult to injury.
