I am the owner of a Ruger Mini-14. I admit that it is not a target gun. But it is adequate for what I need. It is stainless steel with a synthetic stock. And, the GREAT news is that Ruger is NOW making factory 20 and 30 round magazines available for it. This I like!
I also own an SKS. I have long wanted a Mini-30 which uses the same ammo. However, Ruger, for some reason, has not seen fit to make factory magazines for it. And, what is the purpose of a 5 shot semi-auto carbine?
Well, guess what? I saw a 2010 Ruger catalog yesterday and you can now purchase a Mini-30 WITH a factory 20 round magazine! However, in the section where they show magazines for purchase, they DO NOT show that they sell these hi-cap magazines separately. If Ruger has any brains, they will make these mags available for separate purchase and will probably start selling more of these carbines. I HOPE SO! I WANT ONE! How about you? Bi-Mart sells these rifles for less than $700.
